Trey Woodbury (born September 17, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for Aris Thessaloniki of the Greek Basketball League (GBL) and the EuroCup. He played college basketball for UNLV and Utah Valley.
Woodbury was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. [1] He played high school basketball for Clark High School. [2] He was a nominee for Nevada's player of the year in 2017 and a national top 100 recruit. [3]
He played in 22 games his freshman year at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. [4] Following the 2018–19 season, Woodbury transferred to Utah Valley University. [5]
On March 3, 2023, Trey recorded a triple-double, making him the third player to record a triple double in UVU history. [6] [7]
On March 12, 2023, he became the 9th player in school history to have over 1000 career points. [8]
While playing at Utah Valley University, Trey averaged 11.9 points, 3.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game. [9] He is one of nine Wolverines to have over 1000 career points; he sits 7th all-time among total career points for Utah Valley and 2nd all-time in total assists. [10] In the 2022–23 NCAA Basketball season, Woodbury set a program record 174 assists over 37 games. Averaging approximately 1.5 more assists per game than his career average. [11] This is the same season the Utah Valley Wolverines had a program record 28 wins and were semi-finalists in the National Invitational Tournament. [12] [13]
Trey spent most of the 2021–22 season recovering from injury resulting in him playing only 2 games. [14] Both games were the last of the season for Utah Valley and thus counted as the a year of eligibility with the NCAA. He entered the transfer portal at the end of his 2022–23 season [15] hoping to be granted a medical redshirt for the 2021–22 season but it was denied with his first appeal. [16]
In August 2023, Woodbury started his professional career with Brose Bamberg in the Basketball Bundesliga. [7]
In July 2024, The Indiana Pacers announced their 15-man roster for the NBA 2K25 Summer League which includes Woodbury. [17]
On August 24, 2024, Woodbury signed with Greek club Aris Midea.
Jerry Esther Tarkanian was an American basketball coach. He coached college basketball for 31 seasons over five decades at three schools. He spent the majority of his career coaching with the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, leading them four times to the Final Four of the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, winning the national championship in 1990. Tarkanian revolutionized the college game at UNLV, utilizing a pressing defense to fuel its fast-paced offense. Overall, he won over 700 games in his college coaching career, only twice failing to win 20 games, while never having a losing season. Tarkanian was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
The UNLV Runnin' Rebels are the men's basketball team that represent the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in the Mountain West Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA); it plays at the Thomas & Mack Center on campus. As of 2023, UNLV has the seventh-highest winning percentage (.687) in Division I history. UNLV is 33–19 all-time in the NCAA tournament with a 63.5 winning percentage. In July 2008, ESPNU named the program the eighth most prestigious collegiate basketball program in the nation since the 1984–85 season.
The Utah Utes men's basketball team, also known as the Runnin' Utes, represents the University of Utah as an NCAA Division I program that plays in the Big-12. They play their home games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The school has made the NCAA tournament 29 times, which ranks 20th in NCAA history and tied for third most appearances behind UCLA and the University of Arizona in the Western United States. They last made the tournament in 2016. Utah won the NCAA Championship in 1944, defeating Dartmouth College 42–40 for the school's only NCAA basketball championship. However, the school also claims the 1916 AAU National Championship, which was awarded after winning the AAU national tournament. They have also won the NIT once, defeating Kentucky in 1947. In 1998, the Utes played in the NCAA championship game, losing to Kentucky.

Kevin Michael Kruger is an American basketball coach and former player, currently the head coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Born in McAllen, Texas, Kruger played high school basketball at George Walton Comprehensive High School in Marietta, Georgia and college basketball at Arizona State and UNLV. Kruger then played professional basketball from 2007 to 2013, including multiple stints with NBA Development League teams Utah Flash and Los Angeles D-Fenders.

The 2019–20 BYU Cougars men's basketball team represented Brigham Young University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. It was head coach Mark Pope's first season as BYU's head coach and the Cougars ninth season as members of the West Coast Conference (WCC). As the conference leader who didn't win their tournament, they were offered an automatic bid to play in the NIT. They defeated New Mexico, Colorado, and Cincinnati to reach the semifinal round, where they finally fell to UAB in overtime, 86–88. With a final record of 28–9, the 2022–23 season marked the Wolverine's most successful season to date as a D-I program.

The Runnin' Rebels finished the season 20–13, 7–7 in WAC play. They won the 2000 Mountain West Conference men's basketball tournament to receive an automatic bid to the 1998 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, earning a No. 12 seed in the East Region. The Runnin' Rebels lost to No. 5 seed Princeton in the opening round. This was the first NCAA Tournament appearance for the program since back-to-back Final Four appearances in 1990 and 1991.

They finished the season 16–16, 11–9 in WAC play, to finish in a tie for fourth place. As the No. 5 seed in the WAC tournament, they lost to California Baptist in the first round.
The 2023–24 WAC men's basketball season began with practices in October followed by the start of the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in early November 2023. The conference began play in late November 2023. This is the WAC's 62nd season of basketball. The WAC competed with 11 teams due to two teams having left the conference since the prior season. Both New Mexico State and Sam Houston joined Conference USA effective July 1, 2023. The WAC tournament was held March 13–16, 2024 with the top eight teams competing for the automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament at Orleans Arena in the Las Vegas-area community of Paradise, Nevada.
