Southern Indiana is a region consisting of the southern third of the state of Indiana.

Athens High School (AHS) is a public high school in The Plains, Ohio which is located in southeast Ohio. It is the only high school in the Athens City School District. The AHS mascot is a Bulldog, and its school colors are green and gold. The AHS Bulldogs football team play their home games at Joe Burrow Stadium, named after Athens High School graduate and Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow, who was selected first overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Plains is located five miles (8 km) northwest of Athens, Ohio.
Nelsonville-York High School is a public high school in Nelsonville, Ohio, a southeastern Ohio city in northern Athens County. It is the only high school in the Nelsonville-York City School District. Nelsonville-York City Schools serve York Township, Athens County in northern Athens County, including the City of Nelsonville and the Village of Buchtel. The district also serves Ward Township, Hocking County in extreme eastern Hocking County, including the Village of Murray City and the unincorporated community of Carbon Hill.

Columbiana High School is a public high school in Columbiana, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Columbiana Exempted Village School District. Athletic teams compete as the Columbiana Clippers in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.
River Valley High School is a public high school near Bidwell, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is one of two high schools in the Gallia County Local School District, the other school being South Gallia High School. Their nickname is the Raiders. The school has been rated "Excellent" two years in a row on the state report card making it one of the highest ranked schools within several counties. In August 2009 the current RVHS facility was officially opened, taking the place of the previous RVHS located in nearby Cheshire. The new location places River Valley High School just a short distance from its main feeder school, River Valley Middle School. The 2009–10 school year was the first to take place in the new building, with the Class of 2010 being the first class to graduate, and the Class of 2013 being the first to complete all four years of their secondary education at the new building.
South Gallia High School is a public high school in Mercerville, Ohio United States. Because Mercerville does not have its own US Post Office, its mailing address is considered Crown City, despite being 7 miles north of Crown City. It is one of two high schools in the Gallia County Local School District, the other school being River Valley High School. The South Gallia nickname is the Rebels. South Gallia School colors are Red, Gold, and White. The school opened in 1996 after a de-consolidation. The building is located next to the site of the old Hannan Trace High School. South Gallia is a combination of two elementary schools known as Hannan Trace and Southwestern, although Southwestern is a split school between South Gallia and River Valley. South Gallia has around 250 students enrolled. South Gallia has also achieved some of the highest OGT scores in Ohio. South Gallia High School's current Principal is Bray M. Shamblin. Previous principals include Tim Scarberry and Scot West.
Meigs High School is a public high school in Pomeroy, Ohio, United States. It is one of four high schools in Meigs County. The school mascot is the Marauders. Meigs High School is the creation of several school districts within Meigs County including Middleport, Pomeroy, Bedford, Northwestern, and Salem. Consolidation took place between the years 1965 and 1967 with construction of the new school beginning in the summer of 1968. The current school opened in 1970, and is still in use today.
Twin Valley South High School is a public high school in West Alexandria, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Twin Valley Community Local School District. Their colors are scarlet and gray, and are known as the Panthers. Their main rival is Tri-County High School, located in Lewisburg, Ohio.

It is the only high school in the Clay Local School District. Clay is a rural high school serving about 300 students in grades 7-12 in Southern Ohio. The first class graduated in 1940.
Vinton County High School is a public high school in Elk Township, just outside the village limits of McArthur, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Vinton County Local School District. Athletic teams are known as the Vikings.

The Southern Ohio Conference (S.O.C.) is an athletic conference in Ohio. The conference is also a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the governing body of Ohio athletics. There are currently seventeen member schools in the conference. The S.O.C. includes teams from four different Ohio counties - Jackson County, Lawrence County, Pike County, and Scioto County. The conference recognizes: baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' cross country, football, boys' and girls' soccer, fast pitch softball, boys' and girls' swimming, boys' and girls' tennis, boys' and girls' track and field athletics, and girls' volleyball.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is the arbiter of interscholastic competition among public and private high schools in the U.S. state of Indiana. It monitors a system that divides athletically-competing high schools in Indiana based on the school's enrollment. The divisions, known as classes, are intended to foster fair competition among schools of similar sizes. A school ranked 3A is larger than a school ranked 1A, but not as large as a 6A-ranked school. Only football has 6 classes. Boys' basketball, girls' basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball are divided into four classes. Boys' and girls' soccer have featured three classes since the 2017–18 school year. All other sports compete in a single class.
