The Tri-Series in Bangladesh in 2009 was a One Day International cricket tournament held in Bangladesh from January 10 to January 16, 2009. The tri-series involved the national teams of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, [1] with Sri Lanka winning the tournament.

The Zimbabwe national cricket team, also known as the Chevrons, represents Zimbabwe in men's international cricket and is overseen by Zimbabwe Cricket. Zimbabwe has been a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1992. As of March, 2022, Zimbabwe is currently ranked 10th in Tests, 13th in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 11th in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) by the ICC.

An all-rounder who bowls leg spin, Mendis has represented Sri Lanka in the 2012 World Twenty20 and 2015 World Cup. Domestically, he plays for Tamil Union in Sri Lanka, and he has also played for Derbyshire in England during 2017. Mendis announced his retirement from international cricket on 28 December 2021.

The 2008–09 international cricket season was between September 2008 and March 2009. The season saw the security concerns for cricket in Pakistan reach a pinnacle. The ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held in Pakistan in September 2008, was postponed to 2009 after five of the participating nations refused to send their teams for the event. In November 2008, a Pakistani militant group launched terror attacks in Mumbai. This led to India cancelling their tour of Pakistan originally scheduled for January and February 2009. Sri Lanka agreed to tour Pakistan in place of India but the tour was jeopardised by a terror attack in Lahore where gunmen fired at a bus carrying the Sri Lankan team, injuring six members of the team. The Champions Trophy was later relocated to South Africa and no international cricket were played in Pakistan for more than five years. This period of isolation ended when Zimbabwe toured Pakistan in May 2015. After successfully hosting few T20Is against World-XI, Sri Lanka cricket team and the West Indians from 2017 to 2018, few matches of Pakistan Super League from 2017 to 2019, whole season in 2020 as well as hosting complete tours against Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi cricket teams respectively during the 2019–20 season, built good reputation of Pakistan. Hence, by the end of 2019, the Pakistan Cricket Board, announced that they would no longer play any of their future home matches at a neutral venue, indicating that International Cricket has returned to the country on full-time basis.
Ranasinghe Arachchige Suranga Lakmal is a former professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who played in all formats of the game and is a former Test cricket captain. He is a right-arm fast bowler and right-handed batsman. He started his cricket life in Debarawewa National School, Tissamaharama. He was first included in the national squad for the tour of Pakistan in 2008-2009 and was reported to have been injured in the attack on the Sri Lankan team by terrorists.

The tournament involved the national teams of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The tournament was won by Sri Lanka who defeated India in the final match which was held on 13 January 2010.
Craig Richard Ervine is a Zimbabwean international cricketer who captains Zimbabwe in limited overs matches. Ervine is a left-handed batter. He was born in Harare and has played Test and limited overs cricket for the Zimbabwe national cricket team and first-class cricket for a variety of Zimbabwean sides in the Logan Cup. He holds Irish passport. In January 2022, in the opening fixture of the series against Sri Lanka, Ervine played in his 100th One Day International (ODI) match.

Downdegedara Asela Sampath Gunaratne, commonly known as Asela Gunaratne is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who plays all forms of the game. Gunaratne is an aggressive right-handed batsman who occasionally bowls part-time medium pace. He is currently serving in the Sri Lanka Army as a Warrant officer attached to the 6th Field Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery. He is a past pupil of Sri Rahula College, Kandy. In November 2017, he won four awards at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards ceremony, including two awards for best all-rounder.
Devapurage Shehan Madushanka Kumara or commonly as Shehan Madushanka is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who plays limited over internationals. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast medium bowler. He is a past pupil of Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa.
The 2018 Nidahas Trophy was a T20 cricket tournament that was held in Sri Lanka in March 2018. It was a tri-nation series between Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. Each team played each other twice, with two teams progressing to the final. The tournament was played to celebrate Sri Lanka's 70th year of independence; the title derives from the Sinhalese නිදහස් nidahas, meaning "freedom." Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that the matches would be played as Twenty20 International fixtures. The fixtures and venue were announced in November 2017, with all the matches played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This was the first occasion that Discovery Networks Asia Pacific channel DSport acquired media rights to broadcast live cricket matches involving the Indian cricket team.
Nidahas Trophy is an international cricket tournament held in Sri Lanka. The tournament is held to celebrate the independence of the Asian island country Sri Lanka. The tournament is not a regular event in the calendar with the previous tournaments having a gap of 20 years in between. Each of the three participating teams play each other twice and the top two progress to the final. In March 2017 Sri Lanka Cricket announced that the 2018 tournament would be played in the newer and shorter T20I format with Bangladesh entering the tournament, replacing the only Non-Asian team in the triple-nation New Zealand.
The 2001 Asian Test Championship was a Test cricket tournament held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan in August 2001. It was a tri-nation series between the national representative cricket teams of the Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, where India did not participated to the series. The hosts Sri Lanka won the tournament by defeating Pakistan by 8 wickets in the final.
The 2008–09 Bangladesh women's Tri-Nation series was a cricket tournament that was held from 6 to 17 February 2009 in Bangladesh. It was a tri-nation series featuring Bangladesh women, Pakistan women and Sri Lanka women, with the second, third and the final matches played as Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs). As Bangladesh women had not received ODI status when the tournament was being held, the matches involving Bangladesh women were not played with WODI status.
