The XV Island Games were held in Bermuda from 13 to 19 July 2013. Bermuda was selected to host the Games by default after Prince Edward Island withdrew from the International Island Games Association.
St. David's Island is one of the main islands of Bermuda. It is located in the far north of the territory, one of the two similarly sized islands that make up the majority of St. George's Parish.

Tyler Barbour Butterfield is an athlete from Bermuda. He competes in road bicycle racing and triathlon events. He became Bermuda's first ever professional triathlete in 2002. He was voted Bermuda's male athlete of the year in 2006 and 2013. Butterfield was the youngest male competitor at the second Olympic triathlon at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He placed thirty-fifth with a total time of 1:58:26.99.

The 2018 ITU World Triathlon Series was the 10th season of the World triathlon series, the top level international series for triathlon, since its establishment in 2009. The season consisted of nine pairs of triathlon races for both a men's and woman's competition,as well as three mixed relays, beginning on 2nd March in Abu Dhabi, and concluding on 16 September with the grand final at the Gold Coast.
Bermuda competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia from April 4 to April 15, 2018. Bermuda announced it will send a squad of 8 athletes. It was Bermuda's 18th appearance at the Commonwealth Games.
Triathlon at the Pacific Games was first contested at the 1995 games at Papeete. It has also been included in the Pacific Mini Games, firstly at Norfolk Island in 2001.
