The Urban Transportation Development Corporation Ltd. (UTDC) is a former Crown corporation owned by the Government of Ontario, Canada. It was established in the 1970s as a way to enter what was then expected to be a burgeoning market in advanced light rail mass transit systems. It developed significant expertise in linear propulsion, steerable trucks and driverless system controls which were integrated into a transit system known as the Intermediate Capacity Transit System (ICTS). It was designed to provide service at rider levels between a traditional subway on the upper end and buses and streetcars on the lower, filling a niche aimed at suburbs that were otherwise expensive to service.

Hazel Mary Muriel McCallion was a Canadian politician who served as the fifth mayor of Mississauga. First elected in November 1978, McCallion was mayor for 36 years until her retirement in 2014, making her the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. She was a successful candidate in twelve municipal elections, having been acclaimed twice and re-elected ten times. She was nicknamed "Hurricane Hazel" for her outspoken political style with reference to the hurricane of 1954, which had a considerable impact. When the 1979 Mississauga train derailment occurred early in her tenure, she helped oversee evacuation of 200,000 residents from the resulting explosion, fire, and spill of hazardous chemicals.
Ontario Place was an entertainment venue, event venue, and park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The venue is located on three artificial landscaped islands just off-shore in Lake Ontario, south of Exhibition Place, and southwest of Downtown Toronto. It opened on May 22, 1971, and operated as a theme park centred around Ontario themes and family attractions until 2012 when the Government of Ontario announced that it would close for redevelopment. It has since reopened as a park without an admission fee but without several of the old attractions. The Government of Ontario has made controversial plan to place the 145 acres on a 95-year lease with the Swiss mega-spa builderTherme Group without public consultation or environmental assessments.

He was previously the Ontario associate minister of transportation. Thanigasalam is the first Tamil-Canadian to sit in the provincial cabinet in Ontario.
Camilla Care Community was a 236-resident long-term care home in Mississauga, Ontario, owned by Partners Community Health. It was located next to Trillium Health Partners' Mississauga Hospital. The facility was taken over, temporarily, by the province of Ontario in May 2020, as a result of extensive deaths from COVID-19. The facility closed on December 15, 2023, to make way for the new Mississauga Hospital. Partners Community Health opened Wellbrook Place as a replacement.
