Tropico is an upcoming American film noir thriller directed by Giada Colagrande and written by Barry Gifford. It stars Pedro Pascal, Morena Baccarin, and Willem Dafoe.

Premise

Raymond Sanz, a veteran operative hired to spy on Mark, an American businessman (Pascal) in a steamy costal town in Northern Brazil. However, things get more complicated when Sanz falls simultaneously for Mark’s wife, the mysterious and beautiful Lucia (Baccarin), and her equally beautiful identical twin sister, Olivia (Baccarin).

In September 2019, it was announced that a film noir thriller set in Brazil directed by Giada Colagrande was in development, with Pedro Pascal, Morena Baccarin, and Willem Dafoe cast as Mark, Lucia, and Raymond. [1]

Filming

Principal photography began in April 2023, in São Luis Do Maranhão, Brazil. [2]
