Truth vs. Beauty is the fifth studio album by New York-based singer-songwriter Marc Anthony Thompson under the name Chocolate Genius and is his 7th studio album in all. Truth vs. Beauty was Thompson's return to music, as he had announced he was moving on from music after the release of his 4th studio album under Chocolate Genius, Swansongs , in 2010. The album was released 6 years after his intended retirement. The album came out on October 7, 2016, via the French independent record label NØ FØRMAT!

After the 2010 release of his 4th studio album, Swansongs, Thompson announced he was moving on from music. Aside from a 2011 song collaboration with Buddy Miller ("Dang Me") and the Chocolate Genius Twitter feed, Thompson remained mostly inactive.
However, on December 16, 2015, a video was released on No Format's YouTube channel, entitled "Chocolate Genius Inc. – Epilogue 1: Truth vs. Beauty." The video simply consisted of quotes. Then, on July 4, an official teaser for Truth vs. Beauty was uploaded. Then, in September, a music video was uploaded for the song "Fortitude." The final activity before the release was one day before the album debuted when the official music video for the song "Detroit" was uploaded.
Though the reviews for Truth vs. Beauty have been extremely minimal, the reviews the album has received have extremely positive.

He rose to prominence in 2006 when his song "Crowd Mentality" became popular in Jos, plateau state, Nigeria. His critically acclaimed debut studio album Talk About It was released on 11 December 2008. The LP was succeeded by MI 2: The Movie (2010). Four years after that, he released The Chairman as his third studio album. Abaga released the playlist Rendezvous in February 2018. In August of that year, he released his fourth studio album A Study On Self Worth: Yxng Dxnzl. On 6 March 2020, Abaga announced his exit from Chocolate City Music and launch of his record label Incredible Music.
Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, better known as Brymo, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and author. He started recording music in 1999 while in secondary school. He signed a record deal with Chocolate City in 2010 but was accused of breaching his contract with the label in 2013.
"My Story" is a single by American R&B singer R. Kelly featuring 2 Chainz, written by R. Kelly who co-produced it with Nineteen85 from OVO Sound, for his twelfth solo studio album Black Panties. A snippet of the song was first heard at the BET Awards same year, then another a week after the award ceremony. The song was released on November 3, 2012 via R. Kelly's Vevo, and on iTunes a day later. The second snippet was not in the official song, but later heard on the extended version of the song. The song debuted at #89 on the hot 100 during the week of the album's release after many weeks on the bubbling under chart. No official music video will be released, but a documentary music video has been uploaded on R. Kelly's Vevo channel and a fan video was expected, but was never released.
"I Swear" is a song by Nigerian hip hop recording artist Ice Prince. It was released as the fourth single from his second studio album, Fire of Zamani (2013). The song features American rapper French Montana and Nigerian singer Shaydee. It was produced by Chopstix and released under Chocolate City. It debuted at number 10 on MTV Base's Official Naija Top 10 chart.
Melissa Viviane Jefferson, known professionally as Lizzo, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, and flutist. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she moved to Houston, Texas, where she began performing, before moving to Minneapolis, where she began her recording career. Before signing with Nice Life and Atlantic Records, Lizzo released two studio albums—Lizzobangers (2013), and Big Grrrl Small World (2015). Lizzo's first major-label EP, Coconut Oil, was released in 2016.

"New Body" is an upcoming song by American rapper Kanye West from his tenth studio album Donda: With Child. The song features vocals from American singer Ty Dolla Sign and Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper Nicki Minaj. It was originally slated to be included on West's album Yandhi which was never released. The song's original lyrics are about body shaming and the stigma surrounding plastic surgery. A reworked version of the song featuring Christian-themed lyrics was later previewed at listening parties for West's ninth studio album Jesus Is King (2019). In June 2020, Minaj stated that she would contact West about potentially releasing the song after its leaked version became viral on TikTok.
