Tungsten is a Swedish power metal band formed by ex-HammerFall drummer Anders Johansson and his two sons.
Anders founded the band in 2016, together with his sons Nick and Karl Johansson. [1] The idea for creating a band together arose, after Anders listened to metal music that his sons created, which he enjoyed, eventually leading into the bands formation. [2] [3] Tungsten was later joined by Swedish vocalist Mike Andersson, following which the recording of their first album started. [4]
Their debut album, We Will Rise, was released on 20 September 2019, containing elements of power and folk metal. [5] [3] Rock Hard Germany described the album as "carrying Nordic Folk Metal and predominant Power Metal elements, as well as influences like Rammstein or Modern Metal." [6] The recording of the album and also its producing and mixing, done by Nick Johansson, took place in the summer of 2018. [2] In spring of 2019, a contract with record label Arising Empire was signed, under which the album was later published. [2] The album contains songs titled "We Will Rise" and "The Fairies Dance", which were both published as singles before the album's release, [7] [1] as well as a song called "Misled", which was released on the same day as the album. All three songs were released as music videos. [8] [9] [10]
In summer 2020, Tungsten was supposed to partake in the metal festival Sabaton Open Air as a supporting performer. [11] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was postponed [12] – at first to August 2021, and later to August 2022. [13]
In 2020, the band released three more singles, titled "King of Shadows", [14] "Life of the Ocean" [15] [16] and "Tundra", all of which were released as music videos. [17] [18] Later that year, on November the 27th, their second studio album called Tundra was published. [19] [20] [21] The albums recording started in late 2019, with final vocals being completed by January 2020. [4] The lyrics of the album tell the story of Volfram, the Guardian of time - who can be seen on the cover of the album - and his adventure through an icy tundra. A guest appearance on Tundra was made by Jens Johansson, Anders's brother, who is known as the keyboardist of bands such as Rainbow and Stratovarius. He can be heard performing a keyboard solo on the albums closing track, "Here Comes the Fall". [4]
On July 7, 2021, the bands official Instagram account confirmed that a third album was in production. [22] Two new singles were released, "Come This Way" on January 28 and "March Along" on March 3, highlighting the release of their new album Bliss, which came out on June 17, 2022. [23] [24]

Manowar is an American heavy metal band from Auburn, New York. Formed in 1980, the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy and mythology, as well as numerous songs celebrating the genre and its core audience. HammerFall is a Swedish power metal band from Gothenburg. The band was formed in 1993 by ex-Ceremonial Oath guitarist Oscar Dronjak.
Anders Johansson is a Swedish musician, best known as the former drummer of HammerFall and Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force. He currently plays in the power metal band Tungsten. He is the son of jazz pianist Jan Johansson, and brother of Stratovarius and Rainbow keyboardist Jens Johansson.
Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band from Falun. The vast majority of their albums are written about historical events, mainly wars and significant battles. The band is considered one of the "big four" power metal bands along with Blind Guardian, DragonForce and Helloween.

Per Erik Magnus Grönwall is a Swedish hard rock and heavy metal singer. In 2009, he won the Swedish Idol reality television show, receiving several standing ovations from the jury for his performances over the course of the competition. His first single, "Higher", reached gold on digital downloads after only three days. His debut album, self-titled Erik Grönwall, was released just ten days after the finals and debuted at number one on the Swedish albums chart and was certified platinum. Both as a solo artist and band member, Grönwall has numerous top 40 hits.
Majestica is a symphonic and power metal band from Boden in Sweden. They were formed in 2000 by vocalist Tommy Johansson. They are influenced by soundtrack focused films such as The Lord of the Rings and bands like Helloween with Michael Kiske, and Rhapsody of Fire.

Heroes is the seventh studio album by Swedish power metal band Sabaton, released on 6 May 2014. It is the first album to feature the new Sabaton line-up with guitarists Chris Rörland and Thobbe Englund, as well as new drummer Hannes van Dahl. It was produced by Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studios. The artwork was created by Péter Sallai and the photos by Ryan Garrison. The first single, "To Hell and Back", was released digitally on 14 March 2014 and available on iTunes, Nuclear Blast, Amazon and Google Play. Civil War is a Swedish power metal band from Falun, formed in 2012 by several former members of Sabaton. The band adopted the same lyrical themes of war and historical battles that were characteristic of Sabaton. However, unlike Sabaton, many of Civil War's songs focus on American history and conflicts, whereas Sabaton's songs are primarily about European history and conflicts.
The Last Stand is the eighth studio album by Swedish power metal band Sabaton. It was produced by Peter Tägtgren in the Abyss Studios in Sweden and released on 19 August 2016. Like Sabaton's previous album Heroes, The Last Stand is a concept album and takes inspiration from "last stand" military battles. On 10 June 2016 the first single "The Lost Battalion" was released, followed by "Blood of Bannockburn" on 15 July and "Shiroyama" on 12 August. A lyric video for the title track was released on 25 January 2018.
The Great War is the ninth studio album by Swedish power metal band Sabaton. It was released on 19 July 2019. It is the first studio album to feature guitarist Tommy Johansson. Like many of Sabaton's albums, it is a concept album, this time about World War I, often known as the Great War. The songs cover multiple stories from the war, including those of Manfred von Richthofen, T.E. Lawrence, Alvin York, the Attack of the Dead Men, the Battle of Verdun, and others.
