The Ligue Professionelle 2 is the second football level in Tunisia, under Ligue Professionelle 1 which is the top level of Tunisian football. Contested by 24 clubs, divided in two groups, playing each other twice during the season, the top two teams are promoted at the end of the season, whilst the bottom two teams are relegated to the Ligue Professionnelle 3.

During the past few years the name of the competition has changed several times, with the league being known as Division d'honneur (Honor division). National B, Ligue 2 and Championnat de la Ligue Professionnelle 2

Organization and management

The organization and management of the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 2 are assigned to the Professional Football League, which awards the title of Tunisia's Ligue 2 champion to the club whose team finishes at the top of the rankings at the end of the last day of the competition. It is the Organising Committee for Competitions (which also organizes matches in Ligue 1), which ensures the organization and the approval of matches. The Ligue 2 clubs participate in the Tunisian Cup with Ligue 1 and Ligue 3 clubs.

The Tunisian Professional League 1, previously called the Tunisian National Championship between 1956 and 1994, is the top division football tournament in Tunisia under the organization of the Tunisian Football Federation. The first edition was held during the French protectorate of Tunisia, the 1907 season, under the auspices of the Federation of Union des Sociétés Françaises de Sports Athlétiques, and it was played in a knockout system, and the first official match was played on 9 June 1907.

The Tunisian Cup, is the official competition of the Cup in Tunisian football and is considered the second most important local title after the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1. The first cup competition was held in the 1922–23 season.

The Coupe de la Ligue Professionelle was the top knockout tournament for the Tunisian league football clubs. It was created in 1999 with the intention of being played among the two top Tunisian football divisions with some invited teams, like the "Selection 2001" in the 2000–01 season for instance, than divided in two separate competitions for each division or level during the 2006–07 season. This led to the birth of the Coupe de la Ligue Professionelle 1 & Coupe de la Ligue Professionelle 2, soon to be dropped and finally canceled at the end of the same season (2006–07).
