The Turkmenistan women's national handball team is the national team of Turkmenistan. It is governed by the Handball Federation of Turkmenistan and takes part in international handball competitions.
Handball is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins.
The European Women's Handball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national handball teams of Europe, and takes place every two years. In addition to crowning the European champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games and World Championship. As of December 2018, the only teams that have ever won the championship are Norway, Denmark, Hungary, Montenegro and France (once).

Football Club Köpetdag is a Turkmen football club based in Ashgabat, currently playing in the Ýokary Liga. Their home stadium is Köpetdag Stadium which can hold 26,000 people. Köpetdag traditional kit colours are blue and white. Having won 6 Turkmen championships and 6 Cup of Turkmenistan, they are one of the country's most successful clubs.

Since 1984 the Korean team has not only participated constantly in Olympic Games but also ranked among the top four nations every time. The fourth edition of the Women's Islamic Games took place in Tehran and Rasht, Iran in September 2005. A total of 45 countries, 200 teams, and 1316 athletes competed at the Games, which featured fifteen separate sports. The competition was overseen by 516 referees, from twelve different countries, and 15 international observers. The 2005 event saw many countries competing for the first time, including the United States and numerous East Asian, European and African countries. Iran won the competition with a total of 102 medals.

Turkmenistan is currently ranked 49th in the IIHF World Ranking and made its debut in the 2018 World Championship Division III Qualification tournament.
