Turn Off the Stars was a Canadian pop rock band based in Toronto, Ontario. The band's name is taken from a Bill Evans song. [1] Their atmospheric, anthemic songwriting has been compared to Britpop artists such as Coldplay, Doves and Keane. [2] [3] The band has toured nationally in the US and Canada, and has opened for Switchfoot, April Wine and The Tea Party. [4] The band has also played in London, Ontario. [5] The band played their final show in June, 2009.

Pop rock is rock music with a greater emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude. Originating in the 1950s as an alternative to rock and roll, early pop rock was influenced by the beat, arrangements, and style of rock and roll. It may be viewed as a distinct genre field, rather than music that overlaps with pop and rock. The detractors of pop rock often deride it as a slick, commercial product, less authentic than rock music.

Credential Recordings is a pop and rock record label in Nashville, Tennessee. The label branched out after a distribution agreement with Lowercase People Records for Switchfoot singer Jon Foreman's solo EPs, which tend to be more folk-acoustic in style. They also have agreements with the label to release its Switchfoot and Fiction Family releases to the Christian market.

Active throughout the 1990s and up until 2005, the band re-formed in 2011. The Tea Party released eight albums on EMI Music Canada, selling over 2 million records worldwide, including 4 double–platinum awards, 1 platinum and 4 gold albums in Canada, and achieving a No. 1 Canadian single "Heaven Coming Down" in 1999.

The Killers American rock band

Although the band is Canadian, Haines was born in India to American parents, and Winstead and Scott-Key are American. The band started in 1998 as a duo formed by Haines and Shaw with the name "Mainstream". After releasing an EP titled Mainstream EP, they changed the band's name to Metric.

Cancer Bats are a Canadian hardcore punk band from Toronto, Ontario. They have released six studio albums and six extended plays. The band is composed of vocalist Liam Cormier, guitarist Scott Middleton, drummer Mike Peters and bassist Jaye R. Schwarzer. Cancer Bats take a wide variety of influences from heavy metal subgenres and fuse them into hardcore and punk rock, and also include elements of Southern rock. The Audition is a pop punk band from Chicago, Illinois. The band is composed of singer Danny Stevens, drummer Ryan O'Connor, guitarists Seth Johnson and Timmy Klepek and bassist Joe Lussa. The band's first release was a six track EP titled All In Your Head. In early 2005, they signed to record label Victory Records and released their debut album, titled Controversy Loves Company. In early January 2008 they released their second studio album Champion. On April 28, 2009 they released their third studio album Self-Titled Album. Their latest full-length album Great Danger was released on March 16, 2010.

Ten Second Epic was a Canadian five-piece alternative rock band from Edmonton. The band formed in 2002 consisting of Andrew Usenik (vocals), Daniel Carriere (guitar), Craig Spelliscy (guitar), Sandy MacKinnon and Patrick Birtles (drums). TSE released three full-length albums in the course of their career, Count Yourself In, Hometown and Better Off. The band officially announced their breakup on February 25, 2014, and did their final tour in May 2014.

Lost Ocean is a Christian rock band from Bakersfield, California, United States; they are currently Independent, but were signed to Credential Recordings until early 2009. They have released 2 EP's and a self-titled debut that was released on February 20, 2007. In January 2008, they went on the Northwest Winter Rock Tour with The Send and Ruth; and then later on the Credential Recordings Tour with other Credential bands in April 2008.

Walk off the Earth Canadian indie band

Walk off the Earth is a Canadian indie pop band from Burlington, Ontario. They are known for their music videos of covers and originals. The band is well known for its covers of pop genre music on YouTube, making use of instruments such as the ukulele and the theremin, as well as looping samples. The band's recorded music and videos are produced by member and multi-instrumentalist, Gianni "Luminati" Nicassio.
