Tushar Vashisht is an Indian entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of consumer health app HealthifyMe. He is a former investment banker, was an early employee at Aadhaar and is a University of Pennsylvania graduate.
Vashisht was born in Karnal, Haryana, to SN Vashisht, former Director General of Police of Haryana, and Dr. Suneeta Madan, daughter of veterinary scientist ML Madan. [1]
Vashisht did his K-12 in different schools in Haryana before graduating from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in New Delhi in 2003. He spent his first two college years between Delhi College of Engineering and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, [2] before transferring to and graduating with a BAS in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. [3]
Vashisht began his career from Wall Street as an intern for BlackRock. He joined Deutsche Bank full-time as corporate finance analyst in San Francisco before shifting to Singapore. [4] [5] In 2009, he joined the Aadhaar project headed by Nandan Nilekani in Bangalore, where many of the future board members and early investors of HealthifyMe were his colleagues. [6]
Inspired by his own weight gain within a year of returning to India, [7] [8] Vashisht started HealthifyMe in 2012, with Mathew Cherian and Sachin Shenoy as co-founders with "a vision to help Indians be healthier and fitter using online tools". According to him, it is India's "first comprehensive calorie tracker". [3] The company would later add digital nutritionists and trainers as subscription service. [9] In 2019, it launched AI-powered "Smart Plans" recommended by its digital nutritionist "Ria", based on customer habits and medical conditions. [10] The company went on to raise four rounds of funding including a series B funding of US$ 18 million in 2018. [11] In 2019, HealthifyMe was reported to be the top rated Indian startup on Google Play Store. [12]
While at HealthifyMe and during their poverty line experiment, Vashisht advocated for better nutrition policies for Indians. [13] He advocated for better protein subsidy for the masses in 2011-12 in front of the Planning Commission and National Advisory Council, as well as on other forums. [14] In 2018, he gave a presentation during the India-Russia Business Summit, in front of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In 2011, Vashisht lived on ₹100 a day and ₹32 a day for a month, alongside Mathew Cherian. The duo documented their experience on a blog and went on to advocate for the improvement of the average and poor Indian, especially in the field of nutrition, travel, employment and addiction. They concluded that ₹ 32 was insufficient to survive on, while ₹ 120 a day was the income level required to exit poverty. [13] [14] [15] [16]
Vashisht is a trained Hindustani classical singer and was a member of Penn Masala between 2005 and 2007. His composition "Pehchaan" was the title song of the album released in 2007. [6] The song was featured on America's Best of College A Capella in 2008. [17]

He co-founded Infosys and is the non-executive chairman of Infosys replacing R Seshasayee and Ravi Venkatesan, who were the co-chairs of the board, on 24 August 2017. After the exit of Vishal Sikka, Nilekani was appointed as non-executive chairman of the board effective 24 August 2017. He was the chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). After a successful career at Infosys, he headed the Government of India's technology committee, TAGUP. He is a member of Indian National Congress but not active in politics as of 2019.

John Matthai CIE (1886–1959) was an economist who served as India's first Railway Minister and subsequently as India's Finance Minister, taking office shortly after the presentation of India's first Budget, in 1948. He was born on January 10, 1886, as the son of Challiyal Thomas Matthai and Anna Thayyil to an Anglican Syrian Christian family. He graduated in economics from the University of Madras. He served as a Professor and Head in University of Madras from 1922 to 1925. He presented two Budgets as India's Finance Minister, but resigned following the 1950 Budget in protest against the increasing power of the Planning Commission and P. C. Mahalanobis. He was the first Chairman of the State Bank of India when it was set up in 1955. He was the founding President of the Governing Body of the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) in New Delhi, India's first independent economic policy institute established in 1956. He served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai from 1955 till 1957 and then as the first Vice Chancellor of the University of Kerala from 1957 to 1959. His nephew, Verghese Kurien, is generally recognized as the architect of India's White Revolution. Dr. John Matthai Centre, Thrissur, located on the large plot of land donated by his family, is named in his honour. His wife, Achamma Matthai was an Indian social worker and a women's rights activist. Sardara Singh sometimes referred as Sardar Singh, is an Indian former professional field hockey player and captain of the Indian national team. He usually plays the center half position. Neki Ram was an Indian politician. He was a Member of Parliament, representing Haryana in the Rajya Sabha the upper house of India's Parliament as a member of the Indian National Congress Nekiram sharma: Freedom fighter and Haryana Kesari Pandit Nekiram Sharma fought against the British throughout his life. He not only turned down the temptation of the British DC to give 25 marmalades of land, but also said that this entire country is mine, what land will you give me, British. His great-grandson Parag Sharma and his close former judge Subhash Kaushik said that Pandit Nekiram Sharma was born on 7 September 1887 in Kelanga (Kalinga)village of Bhiwani district to Pandit Hariprasad Mishra. He got higher education in Sanskrit by staying in Sitapur, Banaras and Ayodha in Uttar Pradesh. He got an opportunity to meet the country's best leaders Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai, Babu Surendra Nath Banerjee and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya on the occasion of the annual session of the Indian National Congress in December 1905 at Banaras. Inspired by He came back to his village Kelgaon Lot in 1907 at the age of 20. In 1907, Bhagat Singh, uncle Sardar Ajit Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai were sent to Mandalay jail by the British Government and prosecuting Lokmanya Tilak in 1908 did not tolerate Nekiram and he became a staunch opponent of the British Government. Ambala Divisional Political Conference was convened at Bhiwani on 22 October 1920 to popularize the non-cooperation movement. Rohini Nilekani is an Indian writer, author and philanthropist. She is the founder of Arghyam Foundation, a non-profit that focuses on water and sanitation issues, founded in 2001. She also chairs the Akshara Foundation, which focuses on elementary education. Nilekani serves as the co-founder and director of non-profit education platform, EkStep.
