Tuzly Lagoons National Nature Park is a Protected area located in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion of Odesa Oblast, southern Ukraine. The park was set up by decree of the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, on January 1, 2010. [1] [2]

The territory of the National Park includes the group of Tuzly Lagoons: which consist of parts of the larger lagoons Shahany, Alibey, Burnas; and the small lagoons Solone Ozero, Khadzhyder, Karachaus, Budury, Martaza, Mahala, Malyi Sasyk, and Dzhantshey.

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, dead Black Sea bottlenose dolphins washed up at the park's coastline. This continued until 2023 when the fighting in the Black Sea shifted further east. [3]

Shahany Lagoon is a salty lagoon on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion of Odesa Oblast. The lagoon is in the complex of Tuzly Lagoons, connected with the Alibey Lagoon. The area of the water body is 70 km2, salinity is about 30‰. The lagoon is separated from the Black Sea by a sandbar.

Solone Ozero is a small salty lagoon, which used to be a part of the Burnas Lagoon. Now it is separated from the Burnas Lagoon by the autoroute. The Alkaliya River inflows to the lagoon. The water body is included to the Tuzly Lagoons National Nature Park.

The wildlife of Ukraine consists of its diverse fauna, flora and funga. The reported fauna consists of 45,000 species when including the areas of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Ukraine's protected environments consist of 33 Ramsar sites covering an area of 7,446.51 square kilometres (2,875.11 sq mi). Biosphere nature reserves and three national parks are all part of the GEF projects portfolio of conservation of biodiversity in the Danube Delta. Their vegetation pattern is mixed forest area, forest-steppe area, steppe area, Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains and Crimean Mountains. Some of the protected areas that were reserves or parks are subsumed under the biosphere reserves.

It is located to north-east from the Sasyk Lagoon. The total area of the lagoon is 6.92 km2. The lagoon is connected with the Malyi Sasyk Lagoon in its north part.

Martaza Lagoon is a small salty lagoon in the Tuzly Lagoons group in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion of Odesa Oblast, Ukraine. It is separated from the Shahany Lagoon by the sandbar in its north part, near the village of Rybalske. The total area of the lagoon - 0.5 km2.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Khadzhyder Lagoon</span>

Khadzhyder Lagoon is a salty lagoon in the Tuzly Lagoons group in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion of Odesa Oblast, Ukraine. It is separated from the Alibey by a sandbar. Two river, Khadzhyder River and Hlyboka River, inflow into the lagoon. The last one inflows west to the village Bezymyanka, it has a length 24 km, watershed area 80.3 km2. The lagoon has a 4 km length and 2.5 km width. Two villages, Lyman and Bezymyanka, are located on the coast of the lagoon.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pryazovskyi National Nature Park</span> National park in Ukraine

Pryazovskyi National Nature Park is the second largest national park of Ukraine, covering the estuaries, coastal plains seaside landforms around the Molochna River estuary the Utlyuksky estuary, on the northwest coast of the Sea of Azov. The area is one of high biodiversity, protecting both steppe and aquatic habitats, and the unique transition zones in between. The wetlands support very large populations of nesting and migratory waterfowl. The park is crosses several administrative districts, including Pryazovske Raion, Melitopol Raion, Berdiansk Raion, and Yakymivka Raion in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Meotyda National Nature Park</span> National park in Ukraine

Meotyda National Nature Park covers a stretch of coastline, and interior estuaries and coastal lands, on the northern edge of the Sea of Azov in Ukraine. The administration of the park itself has been disrupted by hostilities in the area. Previously, the protected regions of the park supported important populations of migratory waterfowl and over 100 species of nesting birds. The current status of wildlife depends on the varying levels of military activity in the park. Administratively, the park encompasses several subsidiary nature reserves and state lands, which retain their legal status. The park is named for the Maeotians, an ancient people who lived on the Azov shores; ancient names for the Sea of Azov itself included Lake Maeotis and the Maeotian Sea. The park crosses several administrative districts, including Nikolske Raion, Novoazovsk Raion, and Manhush Raion in Donetsk Oblast

The legal basis for the introduction of martial law in Ukraine is the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On the legal status of martial law" and presidential decrees about the introduction of martial law. Modern-day martial law has been introduced two times in Ukraine; in 2018 for 30 days and an ongoing one since 24 February 2022 in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine that started on 24 February 2022.
