The UK Lingerie Awards are held annually in the United Kingdom to present awards to key individuals from the British lingerie industry, including designers and retailers. The awards are organized by the lingerie industry magazine Lingerie Insight. [1]

2011 Awards

The inaugural event was held in September 2011 at One Mayfair, London formerly a church and now a Grade 1 listed building. [2] [3]

The awards were decided by a panel of 7 judges from the lingerie industry before the night. They were: Nichole de Carle (Lingerie designer), Claire Franks (Intimate Apparel Consultancy), Kelly Isaac (The Lingerie Collective), June Kenton (Rigby & Peller), Gillian Proctor (De Montfort University), Kat Slowe (Lingerie Insight) and Sharon Webb (Debenhams). 20 awards were handed out during the ceremony with several receiving more than one nomination. Lingerie Brands Curvy Kate and Lascivious received 3 nominations with La Perla, Obey My Demand and Triumph receiving 2 nominations. Retailers Debenhams and La Senza also received 2 nominations but no brand or retailer won more than one award on the night. The winners and finalists for each category were as follows: [5] [6]

2012 Awards

The 2012 ceremony took place in September 2012 at One Mayfair again. [7] The judging panel for 2012 consists of 9 industry figures, 4 return from the 2011 panel: Claire Franks (Intimate Apparel Consultancy), Kelly Issac (Lingerie Collective), Gillian Proctor (De Montfort University) and Sharon Webb (Debenhams). The 5 new judges are Paul Ager (UK Fashion & Textile Association), Helen Attwood (Selfridges), Michele Duncan (Invista), Joanna Holmes (Shop Direct Group) and Barbara Horspool (New Look). [8]

20 awards were handed out during the night. 3 awards were dropped, the Bridal, Ethical and Men's Brands categories and 3 new awards were added, "Favourite British Lingerie Designer", "Favourite Retailer" and "Favourite Lingerie Brand". These 3 were voted for by the public not by the judging panel. [9] Lingerie brands Curvy Kate and Dirty Pretty Things received 4 nominations whilst 7 other brands had 2 (Freya, Kiss Me Deadly, La Perla, Made by Niki, Myla, Panache and Paolita). 3 retailers also received 2 nominations, Betty & Belle, Debenhams and Figleaves. The X Factor is an Australian television reality music competition, based on the original UK series, to find new singing talent. The first season of the show premiered on Network Ten on 6 February 2005. Ten dropped The X Factor after the first season due to its poor ratings. In 2010, the Seven Network won the rights to the show, and a second season went into production. The X Factor was renewed after the highly successful Australian Idol was no longer broadcast on Network Ten. The X Factor was produced by FremantleMedia Australia, and was broadcast on the Seven Network in Australia and on TV3 in New Zealand. The program was cancelled after its eighth season in 2016.

The Eagle Awards were a series of British awards for comic book titles and creators. They were awarded by UK fans voting for work produced during the previous year. Named after the UK's seminal boys' comic Eagle, the awards were launched in 1977 for comics released in 1976.

The Parsec Awards were a set of annual awards created to recognize excellence in science fiction podcasts and podcast novels. The awards were created by Mur Lafferty, Tracy Hickman and Michael R. Mennenga and awarded by FarPoint Media. They were first presented in 2006 at DragonCon. In 2009 the awards were described as "one of the most recognizable honors in science and fiction podcasting". The awards were given from 2006 to 2018.

La Perla is a London-headquartered Italian lingerie and swimwear maker owned by German entrepreneur Lars Windhorst through Tennor Holding B.V. The brand was founded by couturière Ada Masotti in Bologna in 1954.

Food Glorious Food is a British cooking competition show that aired on ITV from 27 February to 24 April 2013, hosted by Carol Vorderman with judges Tom Parker Bowles, Loyd Grossman, Anne Harrison, Stacie Stewart and Andi Oliver who was a guest judge for the Harrogate heats. The competition, in which anyone of any age could enter, searched the country looking for the best home cooked dish, with the winner receiving £20,000 and their dish made and sold by Marks & Spencer.

Kiss Me Deadly is a British lingerie brand established in London in 2006 by Catherine Clavering. The brand won the "UK's Favourite British Designer" award at the 2012 UK Lingerie Awards.

Cake Maternity is an Australia-based maternity clothing brand, which specialises in nursing bras and other maternity products. Their products are designed to provide femininity like in mainstream lingerie and other clothing items, with the function required in maternity related products.
