Uhritulet (Finnish: The Sacrificial Fires) is a 1993 historical novel by Finnish author Kaari Utrio. It is set in 14th century Finland. [2] [3] According to journalist Suvi Kerttula, Vaskilintu (1992), Tuulihaukka (1995) and Uhritulet are Utrio's most important works. [4]

Uhritulet has been translated into Swedish (Offereldar, 1998). [1]

It is part of the Southwest Finland region in the province of Western Finland, located 36 kilometres (22 mi) northeast of Salo, 86 kilometres (53 mi) east of Turku and 105 kilometres (65 mi) northwest of Helsinki. Kaari Utrio Finnish author

Kaari Marjatta Utrio is a Finnish writer. She has written over 35 historical novels and 13 non-fiction books on historical topics. She is a historian, holding the degree of Master of Arts from the University of Helsinki, and has retired from the position of Professor in service of the Finnish State Commission of Fine Arts.

Tammi, also known as Kustannusyhtiö Tammi and Tammi Publishers, is a Finnish publishing company established in 1943 by an initiative of Väinö Tanner, leader of the Social Democratic Party of Finland. In 1996, the company was bought by the Bonnier Group, and, as of the early 2000s, it was the third largest book publisher in Finland. In 2018, the company was merged into the Finnish book publishing company Werner Söderström Osakeyhtiö (WSOY). Tammi was formerly known as Kustannusosakeyhtiö Tammi.

Meri Marjatta Utrio was a Finnish editor and translator to Finnish. She was married with Urho Untamo Utrio, who was the chief executive officer of the publishing company Tammi and has three children with him: Kaari (1942–) Pirkka (1943–2000) and Martti (1945–). The first above, Kaari Utrio has written over forty historical novels as well as often non-fictional books which deal with position of women and children in the history of Europe.

2012 Finnish presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Finland in January and February 2012. The first round took place on 22 January 2012 with advance voting between 11 and 17 January. Since no candidate received a majority of the vote, a second round was held on 5 February, with advance voting between 25 and 31 January. Sauli Niinistö was elected the President of Finland for a term from 1 March 2012 until 2018.
