First break-up and post break-up activities
Shortly after releasing their 2003 EP Before We Spark they broke up.
In 2007, Melin and Warnock both appeared on VH1's World Series of Pop Culture on the team "Westerberg High". They advanced to the quarterfinals before being eliminated by "Three Men & A Little Lazy". Together, they now run a movie review and film pop culture website, scene-stealers.com.
On December 30, 2008, Ultimate Fakebook played a small reunion show for a friend's birthday at the recordBar in Kansas City, Missouri.
On Thursday, February 5, 2009, Ultimate Fakebook reunited again, this time for a much larger "official" reunion show at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City. This was also a benefit for the JayDoc free clinic, where licensed volunteer physicians supervise University of Kansas School of Medicine students who provide care to the area's under-served populations. The clinic operates on a volunteer basis, with supplies and medicines purchased through grants and donations.
On December 18, 19, and 20, 2009, the band opened for former touring mates and friends Motion City Soundtrack at Lincoln Hall in Chicago, Illinois.
Newer releases
On July 27, 2010, the band self-released their first album since 2003. A digital download comprising 16 original songs and one cover, the album is entitled Daydream Radio Is Smiling Static and is available exclusively on the band's website.
As of 2013, the band are still active and played a concert in their hometown on December 28, 2013, performing material from Daydream Radio is Smiling Static.
In April 2020, they released The Preserving Machine on Sonic Ritual Records.
Sonic Youth was an American rock band based in New York City, formed in 1981. Founding members Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon and Lee Ranaldo remained together for the entire history of the band, while Steve Shelley (drums) followed a series of short-term drummers in 1985, rounding out the core line-up. Jim O'Rourke was also a member of the band from 1999 to 2005, and Mark Ibold was a member from 2006 to 2011.
Ride are an English rock band formed in Oxford in 1988. The band consists of Andy Bell, Mark Gardener, Laurence "Loz" Colbert, and Steve Queralt. Daydream Nation is the fifth full-length studio album and first double album by American alternative rock band Sonic Youth, released on October 18, 1988. The band recorded the album between July and August 1988 at Greene St. Recording in New York City, and it was released by Enigma Records as a double album.

Koichi Fukuda is a Japanese musician, best known as the lead guitarist, programmer, and keyboardist for the metal band Static-X; he has been a member of the band three times, initially from 1994 to 2000, again from 2005 to 2010 and since 2018. Goo is the sixth full-length studio album by American alternative rock band Sonic Youth, released on June 26, 1990 by DGC Records. For this album, the band sought to expand upon its trademark alternating guitar arrangements and the layered sound of their previous album Daydream Nation (1988) with songwriting on that was more topical than past works, exploring themes of female empowerment and pop culture. Coming off the success of Daydream Nation, Nick Sansano returned to engineer Goo, but veteran producer Ron Saint Germain was chosen by Sonic Youth to finish mixing the album following Sansano's dismissal.
