Ultra Buenos Aires is an outdoor electronic music festival that is a part of Ultra Music Festival's worldwide expansion, which has now spread to twenty countries. [1] The inaugural edition of Ultra Buenos Aires took place at the Costanera Sur in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 5 May 2012. [2]

History

2012

The debut of Ultra Buenos Aires was a one-day event held at the Costanera Sur in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 5 May 2012. [4] The one-day event consisted of three stages—Main Stage, Trance Stage, and the DJ Mag Stage. [5] The first edition of Ultra Buenos Aires featured the likes of Kyau & Albert, Justice, Kaskade, John Digweed, Heatbeat, Shogun, TyDi, Andy Moor, Sean Tyas, Christopher Lawrence, Modeselektor, Ida Engberg, Matthew Dekay, Len Faki, Stephan Bodzin, and Chris Liebing. [6] The festival was broadcast live on UMF TV via YouTube. [7]

2013

The second edition of Ultra Buenos Aires took place across the span of two days at the Costanera Sur in Puerto Madero once again, on 19 February and 23 February 2013. [8] The first day of the festival only had one stage, the Main Stage, which included the likes of Tomas Heredia, Festa Bros, Martin Solveig, Avicii, Hardwell, and Dash Berlin. [9] Day two of the festival, featured three stages—Main Stage, Carl Cox & Friends Arena, and the Armada Stage. [10] Featured artists for the second day of Ultra Buenos Aires were Mika, Knife Party, Sander van Doorn, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Nina Kraviz, Dasha Rush, UMEK, Jeff Mills, Marco Carola, Omnia, Tenishia, Aly & Fila, and many more. [11] Over 40,000 people were in attendance for the second year of Ultra Buenos Aires. [12]

2014

The third edition of Ultra Buenos Aires took place at the Ciudad del Rock in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The festival lasted two consecutive days, taking place from 21–22 February 2014. [13] The first day of the festival, 21 February, featured solely the Main Stage and included artists such as Hercules & Love Affair, Showtek, Steve Aoki, Nicky Romero, Paul van Dyk, and many more. [14] The following day included four stages—the Main Stage, the Be Techno Stage, the Full On Stage with Ferry Corsten, and the DJ Mag Latinoamerica Stage. [15] The second day of Ultra Buenos Aires, 22 February, included Adrian Lux, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Pendulum, Tiesto, Pig & Dan, Nicole Moudaber, Green Velvet, Ben Klock, Super8 & Tab, John O'Callaghan, John Digweed, Guy J, Sebastian Mullaert, and many more. [16] The third year of Ultra Buenos Aires welcomed 70,000 people in attendance. [17]

2015

The following edition of Ultra Buenos Aires took place once again at the Ciudad del Rock in Buenos Aires, Argentina and lasted from 20–21 February 2015. [18] The festival consisted of four stages—Main Stage, Resistance/Drumcode Stage, UMF Radio/DJ Mag Latinoamerica Stage, and the Make the Beat Stage that was only accessible to attendees during the second day of the festival. [19] The third year of Ultra Buenos Aires included the likes of Knife Party, Afrojack, Porter Robinson, New World Punx, Alesso, Dash Berlin, Showtek, Firebeatz, Marco Carola, Modeselektor, Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Harvey McKay, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Blond:ish, Angerfist, Coone, and more. 2025

The festival will return in 18-19 April 2025, and will be held at Parque de la Ciudad in Buenos Aires. [22]

Russell Faibisch is an American music festival producer and concert promoter. He is the co-founder of the Ultra Music Festival, an outdoor electronic music festival in Miami, and creator of the Ultra Worldwide brand. He is CEO, President, and Executive producer of the Ultra organization, and is also the chairman of the board, upon which and Adam Russakoff serve. Currently, Faibisch presides over an international chain of branded music festivals, concerts, and events, which include editions spanning across Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, South, and North America, plus globally syndicated radio broadcasts, an online YouTube channel, music films, and premieres. In April 2016, Ultra Music Festival won the DJ Mag award for “World’s Number 1 Festival,” which was voted on by over 500,000 fans worldwide. In 2008, Ultra was also given the DJ Award for “International Dance Music Festival"." In 2014, Faibisch was ranked #6 on Rolling Stone’s “Most Important People in EDM List." Later that year, Billboard named Faibisch and business partner Adam Russakoff on the “EDM Power Players - Executives List. Ultra Brasil is an outdoor electronic music festival that is a part of Ultra Music Festival's worldwide expansion, which has now spread to twenty countries. Ultra Brasil debuted in November 2008 in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In 2016, Ultra Brasil took place at the Sambodromo in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil during 14–15 October 2016. The 2017 edition of Ultra Brasil has been announced to take place at the Sambodromo in Rio de Janeiro during 12–14 October 2017.

Road to Ultra (RTU) events are one day, single-stage events created and founded by the team behind the electronic dance music festival, Ultra Music Festival. Stage designs are also curated by the Ultra Worldwide team and are adapted to accommodate the needs of indoor and outdoor venues. RTU made its debut in 2012 in Seoul, Korea leading up to the second edition of Ultra Korea, which took place the following year. Since then, Road to Ultra events have landed in Thailand, Colombia, Peru, Macau, Japan, Taiwan, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, the Philippines, Singapore, Chile, and Hong Kong. As of 2017, new Road to Ultra events have taken place in India in September 2017, as well as Australia in February 2018.

Ultra Korea is an outdoor electronic music festival that is a part of Ultra Music Festival's worldwide expansion, which has now spread to twenty countries. Following Ultra Brasil's third edition in 2011, Ultra Korea made its debut as a two-day festival in August 2012 and took place at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, Korea. The most recent edition of Ultra Korea took place during 8–10 June 2018 at Seoul's Olympic Stadium. Ultra Korea is strictly a festival for those ages 19 and over. The next edition of Ultra Korea will take place during 7–9 June 2019 at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul.

Ultra Japan is an outdoor electronic music festival that is a part of Ultra Music Festival's worldwide expansion, which has now spread to twenty countries. Ultra Japan made its debut as a two-day festival during September 27–28, 2014, and took place at the Tokyo Odaiba Ultra Park in Tokyo, Japan.

Ultra Singapore started with a Road to Ultra event which took place in September 2015, and in 2016 returned as a two-day festival, which took place at Ultra Park, a field across Marina Bay Sands during 10–11 September 2016.

Ultra South Africa is Africa's largest electronic music festival and is part of Ultra Music Festival's worldwide expansion which has now spread to twenty countries. Ultra South Africa is a single day event taking place in two cities. Having debuted in 2014, Ultra South Africa is the third longest standing world editions of the festival behind Ultra Europe and Ultra Korea. Ultra South Africa is a strictly 18 and over event.

Ultra Bali is an outdoor electronic music festival that is a part of Ultra Music Festival's worldwide expansion, which has now spread to twenty countries. The debut of Ultra Bali took place during 24–25 September 2015 and was held at the Potato Head Beach Club located in Bali, Indonesia. Ultra Bali is an event strictly for those 19 and over. The most recent edition of Ultra Bali took place once again at the Potato Head Beach Club during 15–16 September 2016.

Ultra Australia is an outdoor electronic music festival that is a part of Ultra Music Festival's worldwide expansion, which has now spread to twenty three countries. Ultra Australia made its debut as a single day event under the Road to Ultra banner on 24 February 2018, and took place at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, Australia.
