Umang Singhar is an Indian politician from Madhya Pradesh and a member Indian National Congress. He was the forest minister in the Kamal Nath Ministry between 2019-2020. He is a member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly representing Gandhwani constituency. [2] [3] He is known as a big adivasi leader in the state of Madhya Pradesh. He was first elected to Madhya Pradesh assembly in 2008 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. He is the leader of opposition in Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. [4]
The 2008 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly election was declared by the Election Commission of India on 14 October 2008. Elections for 230 seats took place on 27 November 2008,and counting started on 8 December. The Bharatiya Janata Party won a majority of seats and Shivraj Singh Chouhan was sworn in as the Chief Minister for the second time.

The Assembly of Madhya Pradesh creates laws regarding the conduct of local body elections unilaterally while any changes by the state legislature to the conduct of state level elections need to be approved by the Parliament of India.
