Borno State is a state in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It is bordered by Yobe to the west for about 421 km,Gombe to the southwest for 93 km,and Adamawa to the south while its eastern border forms part of the national border with Cameroon for about 426 km. Its northern border forms part of the national border with Niger for about 223 km,mostly across the Komadougou-Yobe River,and its northeastern border forms all of the national border with Chad for 85 km. It is the only Nigerian state to border up to three countries. It takes its name from the historic emirate of Borno,with the emirate's old capital of Maiduguri serving as the capital city of Borno State. The state was formed in 1976 when the former North-Eastern State was broken up. It originally included the area that is now Yobe State,which became a distinct state in 1991.
The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) is a Federal higher institution located in Maiduguri,the capital city of Borno State in Northeast Nigeria. The university was created by the federal government of Nigeria in 1975,with the intention of its becoming one of the country's principal higher-education institutions. It enrolls about 25,000 students in its combined programs,which include a college of medicine and faculties of agriculture,arts,environmental science,Allied health science,Basic medical science,dentistry,education,engineering,law,management science,pharmacy,science,social science,and veterinary medicine. With the encouragement of the federal government,the university has recently been increasing its research efforts,particularly in the fields of agriculture,medicine and conflict resolution,and expanding the university press. The university is the major higher institution of learning in the north-eastern part of the country.
The Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (KCAET),the only Agricultural Engineering college in Kerala,is situated at Tavanur in Malappuram district and is named after the freedom fighter and social reformer Sri K. Kelappan.This institution is part of the Kerala Agricultural University.

Shettima Mustafa was a Nigerian academic and politician. After an early career in medicine,local administration,and media,Mustafa studied agriculture at university,eventually earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree. He became a commissioner in Borno State and joined the Nigerian People's Party,becoming their vice-presidential candidate in 1983. He was jailed after the military coup of December 1983 led by Muhammadu Buhari. After his release in 1985 he taught agriculture at the University of Maiduguri and became head of the Jos region of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. Mustafa served as Minister of Agriculture from 1990 to 1992,and in 2007 was appointed Minister of Defence in the cabinet of President Umaru Yar'Adua. In 2008 he became Minister of the Interior but left office with the 2010 dissolution of the cabinet.
Dr. Aliyu AbdullahiOON is a Nigerian Civil servant who joined the Civil Service in August 1988 and became a Permanent Secretary in January 2001. In 2003,he was appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology. In July 2007,Abdullahi Aliyu said that he had received a presidential mandate to explore the use of nuclear energy in Nigeria for the generation of electricity.
Adamawa State Polytechnic is a tertiary educational institution in Yola,Adamawa State,Nigeria. It was established in 1991 through a merger of the College of Preliminary Studies Yola and the Staff Development Institute,Numan. The new polytechnic provides national diploma programs in computer science,statistics,accountancy,business studies and secretarial studies. The polytechnic,run by the State government,is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education. The institution has become affiliated with the University of Maiduguri for the purpose of running degree programmes.
Modibbo Adama University,Yola is a public research university in Girei,a town in Adamawa State,Northeastern Nigeria. It is one of the four federal technology universities established with the sole purpose of advancing science-based research. The university is accredited by the National Universities Commission. The university offers associate's,bachelor's,master's,and PhD degrees. The Vice Chancellor is Abdullahi Liman Tukur.

The January 2014 Northern Nigeria attacks were a set of terrorist massacres that occurred in January 2014 at Kawuri,Borno state and in Chakawa village,Madagali Local Government Area,Adamawa State respectively. All of the attacks have been blamed on Boko Haram.

He has taught in many universities in Nigeria and is currently a visiting professor to Kebbi State University of Science and Technology,Aliero and Usmanu Danfodiyo University,Sokoto. He is married to Hajiya Fatima and they have four children.
Yusuf Buba Yakub is a Nigerian politician and the current Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps since 2023. He was previously a member of the House of Representatives (Nigeria) representing the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency of Adamawa State from 2015 to 2023.
