An indoor roller coaster or enclosed roller coaster is a roller coaster built inside a structure. The structure may be unrelated to the ride, or it may be intended solely or primarily for the ride. Many indoor coasters are custom made and placed in amusement parks or shopping malls. LaMarcus Adna Thompson, who pioneered the construction of the first simple roller coasters, initially built "scenic railway" rides including "indoor tableaux, panoramas, and biblical scenes illumined by car-tripped switches and flood lamps". A "completely enclosed roller coaster" called the Twister was built as early as 1925. Universal Studios Dubailand was a proposed Universal Studios theme park in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Originally planned to be built within Dubailand, a future entertainment mega-complex, the project broke ground in July 2008 but stalled a short time later. On October 27, 2016, officials announced the permanent cancellation of the project.

<i>A Day in the Park with Barney</i> Defunct live childrens show

A Day in the Park with Barney was a live children's show at Universal Studios Florida based on the children's television show, Barney & Friends, that opened in 1995 on the former site of The Bates Motel Set used in Psycho IV: The Beginning. It also had a "Barney's Backyard" playground area with a chance to meet Barney in a meet and greet session after the main show in the Barney Theater. It was one of the few places where Barney's original voice actor Bob West could still be heard and one of Universal Studios' attempts to appeal to the younger generation.

Trans Studio is the world's third-largest indoor theme park, located in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The 20,000-square-metre (220,000 sq ft), 20-metre (66 ft) high building houses the indoor theme park. Trans Studio is built on 12.7 ha with investment up to IDR 1 trillion. The indoor theme park was inaugurated by the Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, exactly on September 9, 2009 (09-09-09). Trans Studio itself is a part of The Trans Studio World project, which will include Trans Walk and Rodeo Drive, Trans Studio, Trans hotels, and offices of Mega Bank. Under the management of PT. Trans Kalla, the Mega Development Project will provide an integrated development, comprising not only an indoor theme park, but also shopping mall, supermarket, hotel, office area, recreational beach area, and residential area. The whole project was scheduled to be completed sometime in 2010.

Marvel Superheroes Theme Park is a cancelled 100-acre (0.40 km2) Marvel indoor theme park in Dubailand that was expected to open in November 2014. This park was originally announced in late 2007 by United-Emirate Based Al Ahli group theme park company and Marvel Entertainment. On August 31, 2009, The Walt Disney Company bought Marvel for $4.24 billion and now controls the theme park rights to the company's characters. Since the Universal Studios parks have Marvel-based attractions at Universal's Islands of Adventure Park in Florida and at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, Japan, Universal owns the rights to have Marvel attractions East of the Mississippi River in the United States and in Japan, but not elsewhere.

Universal Studios Beijing is a Universal theme park in Beijing that opened on September 20, 2021 as part of Universal Beijing Resort. Invited-only test operation started on September 1, 2021. The park would become the fifth Universal Studios-branded theme park in the world, the seventh Universal-built park overall, and the third in Asia, after Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Singapore.
