The University of Dayton Research Institute is the professional research arm of the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. UD is ranked first among all colleges in the nation for sponsored materials research, according to statistics released by the National Science Foundation. [1] In Ohio, UD is ranked first among nonprofit institutions for research sponsored by the Department of Defense.
The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) employs 830 full-time research, technical and administrative staff. In fiscal year 2023, UDRI performed 95% of sponsored research at the University, largely contributing to UD's total research volume of $238.6 million. UDRI is nationally recognized for its research in materials, structures, sensors and autonomous systems, energy and sustainment technologies. Established as the research arm of the University of Dayton in 1956, UDRI broke the $3 billion mark in cumulative sponsored research in 2022.
Dayton is the sixth-largest city in the U.S. state of Ohio. The county seat of Montgomery County, it anchors the state's fourth-largest metropolitan area. University of Dayton Arena is a 13,409-seat multi-purpose arena located in Dayton, Ohio. The arena opened in 1969. It is home to the University of Dayton Flyers basketball teams. From 2001 to 2010, the facility hosted the annual "play-in" game in the NCAA men's basketball tournament which featured the teams rated 64th and 65th in the tournament field. Beginning in 2011, when the tournament expanded to four opening-round games, the arena continued to host all "first four" games. Overall, the arena has hosted more men's NCAA Division I basketball tournament games than any other venue.

The Dayton Flyers men's basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) representing the University of Dayton in Ohio. The Flyers play their home games at University of Dayton Arena. The Flyers are coached by Anthony Grant who is in his fifth season. In March 2020, Dayton was ranked #3 in the AP Top 25 Poll, its highest ranking since the 1955–56 season when it was ranked #2. The Flyers have never been ranked #1, but Dayton did receive a lone first place vote in the final AP poll of the 2019–2020 season.

Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) is a large urban hospital in Dayton, Ohio, and is a member of the Premier Health Partners network. The hospital has two additional locations; Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville, Ohio, and Miami Valley Hospital North in Englewood, Ohio. It has the Dayton region's only Level I Trauma Center, a regional adult burn center, and a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit. Miami Valley Hospital has 7,370 employees and 970 beds, and saw over 400,000 outpatient visits in 2007. Miami Valley Hospital's emergency and trauma center contains 72 beds and is the busiest emergency department in Ohio. Miami Valley Hospital also operates three air ambulances known as CareFlight. The Boonshoft School of Medicine, also known as Wright State University School of Medicine, is an accredited medical school at Wright State University. It is located in Dayton, Ohio, United States and serves the Miami Valley region of southwestern Ohio. The school was renamed in 2005 in honor of Oscar Boonshoft who gifted $28.5 million to further medical education, research, and scholarship.
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata is an autonomous institute in science and education field located in Mohanpur near the town of Kalyani in Nadia, West Bengal, India. It was established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 11 July 2006 and promoted to the status of an Institute of National Importance in 2012 vide the NIT Amendment Act. It is one of seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research, and was one of the first IISERs to be established along with IISER Pune. In its first season under head coach Joe Gavin, the team compiled a 6–3 record and outscored opponents by a total of 163 to 103. Dick Dahn was the team captain.
