Flyer Enterprises is a student-run business organization at the University of Dayton. It operates nine businesses around campus and serves as part of the university's entrepreneurship program, though it does not exclude students with other majors. The entrepreneurship program was recently ranked fifth in the country by Entrepreneur.com and The Princeton Review. [2] [ failed verification ] The organization is intended both as an educational platform and to provide services to students on campus. [3] Flyer Consulting, a student-run organization that specializes in providing complimentary business solutions to non-profits in the local Dayton community, is also an official branch of Flyer Enterprises. [4]

Flyer Enterprises currently operates nine businesses around campus. [3]

  • The Blend - A gourmet coffee shop located on the ground floor of Roesch Library. The Blend was the first division of Flyer Enterprises which successfully opened on January 21, 2000.
  • The Blend Express - A smaller gourmet coffee shop modeled after The Blend's successful operation opened its doors in September of 2002. The Blend Express is located on the first floor of Miriam Hall
  • ArtStreet Cafe - Offers breakfast and lunch to students in the Ghetto; hosts an open mic night on Thursdays
  • The Chill - A smoothie stand opened inside the university's new RecPlex
  • Flyer Spirit - A joint venture with the UD Bookstore opened in 2007 to sell Dayton Flyers apparel and memorabilia
  • Fly By - A joint venture with dining services formerly known as "The Galley" in the John F. Kennedy Memorial Union that serves bagel sandwiches
  • Stuart's Landing - A newly remodeled convenience store located in Stuart Hall
  • FE Catering - A full catering service operation that opened in August 2009 that serves the catering needs of the UD community
  • FE Storage - FE's first service-based venture that offers UD students a place to store their belongings over the summer and during the school year

Flyer Enterprises previously operated a large convenience store called Rudy's Fly-Buy. It was closed after 17 years of operation in 2007 because of declining sales. The idea for a student-run store was originally brought to UD from Georgetown University by Dr. William Schuerman, former dean of students and vice president of student development at UD. At Georgetown, the student-run corporation is known as Students of Georgetown, Inc. Originally operated by a small group of students, Rudy's Fly-Buy was taken over by Flyer Enterprises when the organization formed in 2001. Currently, Flyer Enterprises is UD's largest student employer with over 170 employees.

Students of Georgetown Inc., commonly known as "The Corp", is a 501(c)3 non-profit public charitable organization at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., with seven subsidiary companies generating annual revenues in excess of $5 million. Only undergraduate students of Georgetown University work as employees or sit as members of the Corp's board of directors, distinguishing business operations at the Corp from other student-run companies such as Harvard Student Agencies, which allows non-students and alumni to serve as board members.

The Yale Entrepreneurial Society (YES) is a student-run nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to encouraging entrepreneurship and business development in the New Haven, Connecticut area. YES was founded in 1999 by Yale undergraduates Sean Glass and Miles Lasater. Its social entrepreneurship program—focused on not-for-profit and socially responsible organizations—was founded the same year, with efforts led by fellow student David Pozen. Today, YES members include Yale undergraduate, graduate, professional students, and faculty, as well as several hundred Yale alumni around the world.

The Weinert Center is the home of entrepreneurship education in the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The center is dedicated to teaching, research, and service pertaining to entrepreneurial management and enterprise development across the entire UW campus.

Christmas on Campus is an annual event at the University of Dayton in which children are invited to campus to celebrate the Christmas holiday. It has become one of the nation's largest single-day, on-campus community service events. University students buddy up with area children and treat them to seasonal shows, displays and food. The event is held on December 8 each year, the same day as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It is one of the largest events hosted by the University of Dayton, and has a student organization devoted to preparing and running the event. It is considered by some to be an integral part of the campus' spirit.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an international initiative that introduces entrepreneurship to young people in six continents. GEW emerged in 2008 as a result of Enterprise Week UK and Entrepreneurship Week USA 2007. Since its creation, more than 10 million people from roughly 170 countries have participated in entrepreneurship-related events, activities and competitions during GEW.

The African Leadership Academy (ALA) is an educational institution located in the outskirts of Johannesburg, South Africa, for students between the ages of 16 to 19 years old, with current alumni coming from 46 countries.

The University of Dubai (UD) (Arabic: جامعة دبي) is an accredited university in the UAE. Licensed nationally by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UD became the first private University in Dubai to hold the AACSB international accreditation in 2009, maintaining for further 5 years till 2019, as well as the first private university in the UAE to hold the ABET-CAC accreditation for its Computing and Information Systems (BS) program in 2006. Associated Students, Chico (AS.) is the student government at California State University, Chico. With assets of over $19 million and annual revenue over $20 million, Associated Students, Chico is one of the largest non-profit organizations in Northern California Associated Students, Chico is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public-benefit corporation with 17,488 members. The organization owns and operates several student services on-campus including all vending machines, and foodservices, as well as the campus bookstore. The students of CSU Chico also own their own student union building named the Bell Memorial Union which houses the Marketplace Cafe, the AS Bookstore, and the student government offices.

Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur (E-Cell) is a non-profit student's organization dedicated to promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among students throughout India. Established in 2006 under the aegis of STEP, IIT Kharagpur, E-Cell has since been involved in more than 70 startup companies in the initial stages of their existence. It is a student body under Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship (RMSOEE), IIT Kharagpur and has taken up various initiatives to promote new ventures by students of IIT Kharagpur and students across the country.

The Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students (BASES) is a student group at Stanford University focusing on business and entrepreneurial activities. One of the largest student-run entrepreneurship organizations in the world, BASES' mission is to promote entrepreneurship education at Stanford University and to empower student entrepreneurs by bringing together the worlds of entrepreneurship, academia, and industry. BASES organizes the flagship 150K Challenge, Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders' Seminar, the SVI Hackspace, E-Bootcamp, and the Freshman Battalion.

An entrepreneurial ecosystems or entrepreneurship ecosystems are peculiar systems of interdependent actors and relations directly or indirectly supporting the creation and growth of new ventures.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">The Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay</span>

The Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay, also known as E-Cell, IIT Bombay, is the primary entrepreneurship promoting body of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, managed and run completely by the students of the institute. It organizes initiatives like the annual business plan competition Eureka! and the flagship event, The Entrepreneurship Summit (E-Summit) in January each year, which receives a footfall of over 30,000 people who include students, investors, corporates, mentors, celebrities and the most important; Entrepreneurs.

From 1978 to 2021 the MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) operated chapters in major cities in the U.S. and worldwide. The MIT Enterprise Forum was non-profit organization affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) through MIT Technology Review. The chapters ran a range of events and programs targeted to help early-stage entrepreneurs, promote innovative technology to the general public. In the Spring of 2021, MIT Technology Review, the parent and MIT Enterprise Forum, Inc (“Global”) notified the Chapters that MIT Technology Review decided to no longer support the Chapters of the MIT Enterprise Forum. In July 2021, the largest and flagship chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum; the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge subsequently renamed itself The eForum in order to continue its mission of helping early stage entrepreneurs succeed.

Social entrepreneurship in South Asia involves business activities that have a social benefit, often for people at the bottom of the pyramid. It is an emerging area of entrepreneurship that is supported by both the public sector and the private sector.
