Urals Mussorgsky State Conservatoire is a musical university in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. The Ural State Conservatory was founded in 1934. In 1939 the Conservatory had its first graduates.

The Sverdlovsk Conservatory was founded in 1934. In 1939, the year of its first graduation, it was named in honour of the 100th anniversary of the outstanding composer M. P. Mussorgsky. [1]

In 1945 the Sverdlovsk Conservatory became the Urals Conservatory. [1]

<i>Boris Godunov</i> (opera) Opera by Modest Mussorgsky

Boris Godunov is an opera by Modest Mussorgsky (1839–1881). The work was composed between 1868 and 1873 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It is Mussorgsky's only completed opera and is considered his masterpiece. Its subjects are the Russian ruler Boris Godunov, who reigned as Tsar during the Time of Troubles, and his nemesis, the False Dmitriy. The Russian-language libretto was written by the composer, and is based on the 1825 drama Boris Godunov by Aleksandr Pushkin, and, in the Revised Version of 1872, on Nikolay Karamzin's History of the Russian State.

Salammbô [alternative title: The Libyan ] is an unfinished opera in four acts by Modest Mussorgsky. The fragmentary Russian language libretto was written by the composer, and is based on the novel Salammbô (1862) by Gustave Flaubert, but includes verses taken from poems by Vasiliy Zhukovsky, Apollon Maykov, Aleksandr Polezhayev, and other Russian poets.

The Malachite Box or The Malachite Casket is a book of fairy tales and folk tales of the Ural region of Russia compiled by Pavel Bazhov and published from 1936 to 1945. It is written in contemporary language and blends elements of everyday life with fantastic characters. It was awarded the Stalin prize in 1942. Bazhov's stories are based on the oral lore of the miners and gold prospectors.
