Usman Danjuma Shiddi (born 1967 [1] also known as Danji SS [2] ) is a Nigerian politician and legislator currently representing the Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency [3] of Taraba State at the Federal House of Representatives in Nigerian National Assembly. [4] [5] In 2019 he won the House of Representative seat with 39,312 votes defeating his closest rival,Yakubu Aliyara of Action Alliance (AA) who got 22,147 votes. [6] [7] Shiddi is the Chairman House Committee on Internal Security of the 9th Nigeria House of Representative Assembly [8] and in 2020 defected to the All Progressives Congress. [9]
Danjuma Usman is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who has served as a House of Representatives Member for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency Taraba Sate from 2015 till date. Danjuma Usman was born into the Family of Mr Usman Shiddi and Mrs Patu Adda. He began his education at the Ebenezer primary school in the mid-70s in Wukari Local Government area of the then Gongola state,now Taraba State.
Upon his graduation,he proceeded to Government Day secondary school Wukari but later moved to Government Science Secondary School Bauchi where he completed his Secondary Education in the late 1980s. Danjuma immediately proceeded to Bauchi Polytechnic in the early 1990s and upon completion of his studies,he moved to Ado Bayero University Kano,and then obtained a bachelor's degree in political science.
Vibrant Danjuma Shiddi first took up employment with the Department of State Services (DSS) during the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC). He served at various capacities in the intelligence spheres and places across the countries such as Gombe,Zamfara,Yobe,Nassarawa and Abuja to mention but just a few. Shiddi rose to the rank of assistant director and held several positions while in service. One of the positions he held while in service was the Chief Security Officer to Late Alh. Aliyu Akwe Doma,former Governor of Nasarawa state.
While in active service,he utilized every opportunity he had to effect the lives of his people. In his quest to serve his people better and contribute his quota to the development of his immediate constituency,He disengaged from the public service and joined active politics. To drive home his vision,his first destination was the lower chamber of the National Assembly,the House of Representatives to represent the good people of Wukari/Ibi federal constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he lost out. Despite his initial loss in the political arena he remained resolute to his calling which is devoid of partisanship and boisterous demand for party politics.
Consequently,he decided to pursue his ambition and pitch his tent with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a loner and eventually won the election. His performance as the people's representative and legislative deliveries,human and infrastructural development earned him a second term in the house winning under the platform of APGA again.
Hon. Danjuma recently defected from the APGA to the APC;a platform he feels will earn him a wide coverage in National Politics and expand his horizon in the terms of service delivery to his people. "I decided that I should go to a larger party that can attract development to Wukari/Ibi federal constituency and southern Taraba". So far,his achievements in the political circle have given his people the sense of political belonging with great assurance that collective developmental initiative is possible.
Some of his milestone achievements include securing employment for over 100 graduates in his constituency in various Ministries,Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Parastatals at the federal level. Under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity,110 youths were sent to Lafia,Nasarawa state for skills acquisition training,securing admission for over 600 indigenous applicants desirous of academic pursuits into different tertiary institutions across the country securing admission and sponsoring of over hundred youths in NTA College,Jos.
Still on youth empowerment,he distributed 400 sewing machines,provided 550 grinding machines,100 tricycles,50 welding machines and 250 wheel chairs amongst several relief items. Also his focus on SMEs,infrastructural developments and interventional roads,Pipe-borne water,cross-portation,electrification has been achievable.
He built examination halls in Tsokundi and provided 7 hand pumps in Rafin-Kada,Akwana-Kente,Bantaje,Jibu-Kente and Chokunwa in Wukari local government area,launching of erosion projects and construction of drainages and culverts in Wukari town connecting Yam market through Kinkinso,provision of Solar street lights in Wukari to illuminate the town at night,provision of engine boats to Ibi to aid transport across the river.
During the heat of the corona virus pandemic,he reached out with palliatives through food items,cash transfers,constituents as well as suppliers with personal protective equipment to help workers,government and private officers,unions amongst others.
As a ranking member and as a no novice on issues of intelligence and security,he has fueled the effort to bridging the bridge of peace and reconciliation between the TIV and JUKUN people,of the farmers and herders,the governing crisis of Wukari and Ibi. He sponsored a bill for an act to establish the Federal College of fisheries,Ibi,Taraba State and a bill for an act to regulate and provide for the establishment of federal roads and highway forest guards.
Danjuma is a strong advocate for the reconstruction and rehabilitation and recovery of the North-East region of Nigeria which has been ravaged over 9 years of insurgency. He has also called on the international communities to assist in rebuilding the region. Danjuma is an active supporter of the Not too Young to Run campaign which aims to secure representation of Nigeria's Youth in the political process as he stands with Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara's process by lowering the age of eligibility by elective officers. He also supports the local government autonomy in Nigeria extensively. His support of the local government autonomy is informed by his believe that it will result in greater and quicker development at the grassroot level.
Tiv is a Tivoid language spoken in some states in North Central Nigeria,with some speakers in Cameroon. It had over 4.6 million speakers in 2020. The largest population of Tiv speakers are found in Benue state in Nigeria. The language is also widely spoken in some Nigerian states namely,Plateau,Taraba,Nasarawa,Cross River,Adamawa,Kaduna,and Abuja. It is by far the largest of the Tivoid languages,a group of languages belonging to the Southern Bantoid languages.

Jukun are an ethno-linguistic group or ethnic nation in West Africa. The Jukun are traditionally located in Taraba,Benue,Nasarawa,Plateau,Adamawa,Bauchi and Gombe States in Nigeria and parts of northwestern Cameroon. They are descendants of the people of Kwararafa. Most of the tribes in the north central of Nigeria trace their origin to the Jukun people and are related in one way or the other to the Jukuns. Until the coming of both Christianity and Islam,the Jukun people were followers of their own traditional religions. Most of the tribes,Alago,Agatu,Rendere,Goemai in Shendam,and others left Kwararafa when it disintegrated as a result of a power tussle. The Wukari Federation,headed by the Aku Uka of Wukari,is now the main centre of the Jukun people.

The Zaki-Biam massacre was a mass execution of hundreds of unarmed Tiv civilians by the Nigerian Army between 20 and 24 October 2001. The massacre was a surreptitious operation of the Nigerian army to avenge the killing of 19 soldiers,whose mutilated bodies were found on 12 October 2001,near some Tiv villages in Benue State. The massacre took place in villages including Gbeji,Vaase,Anyiin,Iorja,Ugba,Tse-Adoor,Sankera,Kyado and Zaki-Biam.

The Nwonyo Fishing Festival is a festival celebrated by the Ibi people in Taraba State,Nigeria. The lake is located 5 kilometres North of Ibi community,it is an annually celebrated festival where Ibi and its neighboring community comes together to fish and re-unite.
