Ustaad Bhagat Singh is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers. The film stars Pawan Kalyan as the titular character alongside Sreeleela, Ashutosh Rana, Nawab Shah, B. S. Avinash, Gauthami and Chammak Chandra. It is a remake of the 2016 Tamil film Theri . [2]

Development

The film was announced as Bhavadeeyudu Bhagat Singh on 9 September 2021. [3] It marks the second collaboration of Pawan Kalyan with Harish Shankar after Gabbar Singh (2012). [4] Later in December 2022, title was changed to Ustaad Bhagat Singh. [5] The film's launch event with a pooja ceremony was held on 11 December 2022 at Ramanaidu Studios with cast and crew. [6]

Casting

Sreeleela was cast as the female lead, pairing opposite Kalyan for the first time for Sreeleela. [7] Ashutosh Rana, [8] Nawab Shah, [9] K.G.F fame B. S. Avinash, [10] Gauthami, [11] Naga Mahesh, [12] Narra Srinu, [13] Chammak Chandra, [14] Giri and [15] Temper Vamsi would play important roles. [16]

Filming

Principal photography commenced on 5 April 2023. A Police station was erected in Aluminium factory, Hyderabad for film's first schedule. [17] Leela joined the set on 11 April. [18] First schedule was ended on 15 April. [14] In June 2023, the team erected a massive set for the film's next schedule. [19]

Music

Devi Sri Prasad is hired as the music director. [20] Music session began in May 2023. [21] The audio rights were acquired by Sony Music India. [22]

Release

Theatrical

It was planned for a release in 2024, but got delayed as Harish Shankar moved on to direct Mr. Bachchan, reuniting with Ravi Teja. [23]

Home Media

The digital distribution rights of the film were acquired by Amazon Prime Video. [24]

Pawan Kalyan is an Indian actor, screenwriter, stunt coordinator, philanthropist and politician. His film works are predominantly in Telugu cinema. He is the youngest brother of popular actor Chiranjeevi. Pawan Kalyan made his acting debut in the 1996 Telugu film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. His next four films were all box-office successes namely Gokulamlo Seeta (1997), Suswagatham (1998), Tholi Prema (1998), and Thammudu (1999). Trivikram Srinivas's Attarintiki Daredi (2013) was an industry hit and got him back to the highest level, yet again. His film Gopala Gopala (2015) with Venkatesh was a moderate success while Sardaar Gabbar Singh, Katamarayudu, and Trivikram Srinivas's Agnyaathavaasi received negative reviews. Vakeel Saab (2021), the masala-laced adaptation of the courtroom drama Pink (2016), received positive reviews. His next film, Bheemla Nayak (2022), was a blockbuster and ended up becoming the fourth highest-grossing Telugu film of 2022.

Gabbar Singh is the soundtrack to the film of the same name directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Bandla Ganesh's Parameswara Art Productions starring Pawan Kalyan. The soundtrack to the film featured six songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad with lyrics written by Ramajogayya Sastry, Chandrabose, Sahithi, Bhaskarabhatla and Prasad himself. The soundtrack was released on 15 April 2012 through the Aditya Music label.
