Sanganabhatla Harish Shankar (born 31 March 1979) is an Indian film director and screenwriter known for his works exclusively in Telugu cinema, and Telugu theater. [2] [3] [4] He made his directorial debut with Shock (2006), produced by Ram Gopal Varma. [5]

He has directed Mirapakay (2011), Gabbar Singh (2012); for which he received the SIIMA Award for Best Director, and CineMAA Award for Best Director. Gabbar Singh grossed 150 crore (US$18 million) worldwide, becoming one of the highest grossing Telugu films at the time. [6] Ramayya Vasthavayya (2013) grossed a worldwide share of 309 million (US$3.7 million) [7] and DJ: Duvvada Jagannadham (2017) grossed 150 crore, [8] both of which were directed by him.

Early life

Harish Shankar was born in Dharmapuri, Telangana and was brought up in BHEL Township, Hyderabad. [9] He has a younger brother, Vishnu Prasad, and a younger sister. He studied at Osmania University. [4] [5] [10]

Film craft

Shankar started stage acting with Seeta Nilayam and Lalitha kala Mandiram, based in Telangana. He then began writing and screenwriting. [11] He is influenced by Yandamuri Veerendranath's works and is interested in dialects, regional and linguistic influences. [12] He was associated with Kona Venkat, Puri Jagannadh, Ram Gopal Varma, and has worked as an associate director for films such as Ninne Istapaddanu and Veede . [11]

Rama Rao Jr., Shruti Haasan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. In the film, Nandu and his group of friends are happy go lucky guys and he gets struck when he sees Akarsha (Samantha). From thereon, he tries all ways to impress her and finally manages to do that. He is invited for Akarsha's sister marriage and there he meets her father who is going through a series of life threats and other issues from hidden enemies. Nandu comes forward and offers to help. However, there is a motive behind Nandu's help and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Ramayya Vasthavayya is the soundtrack to the 2013 Telugu romantic-action film of the same name, directed by Harish Shankar and starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Shruti Haasan. The soundtrack album originally includes six tracks composed by S. Thaman and was released on 21 September 2013. Pawan Kalyan is an Indian actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, stunt coordinator, narrator, choreographer, playback singer and politician. His film works are predominantly in Telugu cinema. He is the youngest brother of popular actor Chiranjeevi. Pawan Kalyan made his acting debut in the 1996 Telugu film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. His next four films were all box-office successes namely Gokulamlo Seeta (1997), Suswagatham (1998), Tholi Prema (1998), and Thammudu (1999). The film stars Allu Arjun, alongside Pooja Hegde and Rao Ramesh. Devi Sri Prasad composed the music, while cinematography and editing were handled by Ayananka Bose and Chota K. Prasad.

Satish Vegesna is an Indian film director and screenwriter known for his works in Telugu cinema. His film Shatamanam Bhavati received the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and the state Nandi Awards for Best Direction, and Best Home Viewing Feature Film.

The album consists of five tracks with Jonnavittula Ramalingeswara Rao, Sri Mani, Bhaskarabhatla, Sahithi and Balaji penning the lyrics. The soundtrack album released digitally on 21 May 2017 under Aditya Music label. The film stars Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles, while Rao Ramesh, Subbaraju, Chandra Mohan, and Murali Sharma play supporting roles.

Gabbar Singh is the soundtrack to the film of the same name directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Bandla Ganesh's Parameswara Art Productions starring Pawan Kalyan. The soundtrack to the film featured six songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad with lyrics written by Ramajogayya Sastry, Chandrabose, Sahithi, Bhaskarabhatla and Prasad himself. The soundtrack was released on 15 April 2012 through the Aditya Music label.
