Uthara Menon is an Indian costume designer, who has worked in the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries. [1] [2]
Uthara began her career as a fashion stylist for a soft drink commercial directed by her brother Gautham Vasudev Menon featuring Asin. Gautham subsequently offered her the opportunity to work on his films, beginning with Yennai Arindhaal (2015). She has since worked with him on films including Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016), Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019) and Dhruva Natchathiram (film) (2021). In their collaborations, she notably worked on dressing Ajith Kumar as a police officer, Trisha as a bohemian dancer, and Dhanush across several different looks through time. [3] For Trisha's character of Hemanika, Uthara made dresses out of Kanchi cottons and used retro brocade for her dance costumes, while basing her look on actress Shobana. [4] For both projects, she won awards from film portal Behindwoods and magazine Ananda Vikatan. [5] [6] Uthara has also worked with Gautham on his music videos for Ondraga Originals. [7]
Uthara has also worked as a stylist on Telugu language films, with Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019) being her largest project to date. The film is set in the 1800s and features characters representing the British regiments, native villagers, tribals and zamindars of British India. She worked for over two years on the film, and styled actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara. [8] [3] She has also worked on other Telugu films such as Sarrainodu (2016) and Nani's Gang Leader (2019), while she assisted on Manam (2014) as a set designer with Rajeevan. [3] [9]

Gautham Vasudev Menon is an Indian film director, screenwriter, film producer and actor who predominantly works in Tamil film industry. He has also directed Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films that were either simultaneously shot with or remakes of his own Tamil films. He also has acted in a few Malayalam and Telugu films. He has won two National Film Awards, three Nandi Awards and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award.

The film revolves around a former police officer's battle to protect his step-daughter from his arch-enemy.
Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language romantic action thriller film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film stars Silambarasan and Manjima Mohan, while Baba Sehgal plays the role of a corrupt cop. The film revolves around a youngster who embarks on a road trip with his lady-love during which he meets with an accident which causes things to get out of control.
Enai Noki Paayum Thota is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, who co-produced the film with P. Madhan and Venkat Somasundaram. The film stars Dhanush, Megha Akash, M. Sasikumar, and Sunaina. The music was composed by Darbuka Siva with cinematography was handled by Jomon T. John and Manoj Paramahamsa, while Praveen Antony handled the editing of the film.
Dhruva Natchathiram, also marketed with the subtitle Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam, is an unreleased Indian Tamil-language spy action thriller film directed and produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film stars Vikram, alongside an ensemble cast consisting of Ritu Varma, R. Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran and Vinayakan. Set in the same universe as Menon's Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha (2024), a covert operative leads a team of elite professionals named "The Basement", with the intentions of taking down terrorist organisations secretly without being bound by law and order.
Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language epic historical action film directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Ram Charan under the Konidela Production Company banner. Reddy scripted the film based on an original story given by Paruchuri brothers. A work of fiction, the film is inspired by the life of Indian independence activist Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The film stars Chiranjeevi in the title character, with an ensemble cast including Sudeepa, Vijay Sethupathi, Ravi Kishan, Jagapathi Babu, Nayanthara and Tamannaah Bhatia. Amitabh Bachchan and Anushka Shetty make guest appearances. Pawan Kalyan, Kamal Haasan, and Mohanlal gave narration in the film to their respective languages. The film tells the story of Narasimha Reddy in his fight against the rule of the British East India Company.

Yennai Arindhaal is the soundtrack album for the 2015 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film of the same name, co-written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, starring Ajith Kumar. The soundtrack album composed by Harris Jayaraj, consists of seven tracks, with six tracks written by Thamarai and one song written by Vignesh Shivan. This marks the first time Harris Jayaraj is composing for an Ajith Kumar-starrer film. The audio rights of the soundtrack album were marketed and purchased by Sony Music India. Prior to the soundtrack release, a single track titled "Adhaaru Adhaaru" from the film was released on 11 December 2014. The complete soundtrack album was released on 1 January 2015, coinciding with New Year's Day. It was met with a positive critical reception, with critics and music listeners praising Harris Jayaraj's musicianship and the composition for an Ajith-starrer film, as well as its contribution to Gautham's reunion after Vaaranam Aayiram (2008).
Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is the soundtrack album for the 2016 Tamil film of the same name. Rahman, collaborating with Silambarasan and Gautham Menon once again, after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya (2010). The song titles were revealed by Menon in March 2016. Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and produced by Ishari K. Ganesh. The film, the first instalment in a planned shared universe, stars Varun in the titular role, alongside Raahei, Dhivyadharshini, Mansoor Ali Khan and Krishna. It revolves around an assassin-turned bodyguard seeking to protect his ex-girlfriend from a Mexican drug cartel.
