V. Priya is a Tamil film director. She worked as an assistant to director Mani Ratnam after learning her craft under Suhasini. [1]

Career

Priya made her directorial debut with romantic-comedy Kanda Naal Mudhal (2005) starring Prasanna, Laila and Karthik Kumar. The film received positive critical acclaim during its release with critics praising "Priya deserves a pat on her back for weaving a gossamer romance like her mentor Mani Ratnam sir did in Mouna Ragam or Alai Payuthey . But the film has its own minor drawbacks mostly in narration and lags especially in the second half". [2] The film did well at box-office. However her second film Kannamoochi Yenada (2007) starring Prithviraj, Sandhya and Sathyaraj received mixed reviews from critics, but it was also commercially successful. [3] [4] In 2008, she planned a third project titled Cheri starring Prithviraj and Bhavana, but the film did not materialise. She alongside her husband Bhushan Kalyan worked as creative director for television series Uyirmei which was telecasted in Zee Tamil. [5]

After a long gap, she made her comeback to film direction with Aadi Lakshmi Puraana (2018) which marks her debut in Kannada cinema. [6] In 2022, She is making a comeback in the Tamil series Anantham streaming on Zee5. [7] She is back, with yet another love triangle romance, starring Ashok Selvan, Vasanth Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi, titled Pon Ondru Kanden (2024). [8]

Yuvan – Live in Concert is a concert by Indian musician Yuvan Shankar Raja. The concert, Yuvan's second in his career, took place on Pongal, 16 January 2011 at the YMCA Grounds, Nandanam, Chennai. Following the announcement, popular Tamil television STAR Vijay agreed to collaborate, sponsoring, organising and marketing the concert, while airing a special television series about Yuvan Shankar Raja, with family members and prominent celebrities closely associated to him participating, besides producing a promotional music video, titled "I'll be there for you". The five-hour show, which was attended by 20,000 people, including several noted film personalities, was received very positively and considered a highly successful event.
