Freedom Oigocho Ali (born 14 January 2004), known professionally as VASA, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. [1] He gained recognition following his 2023 viral freestyle on TikTok, [2] Its success led him to release his official debut single titled 'Bolanle' to modest commercial success afterwards debuting on the official TurnTable charts NXT Emerging Top Artistes at 17 on the week of November 15 to 21, 2024. Early life

VASA was born in Agege, Lagos State, Nigeria. He's an indigene of Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, [4] and raised in Lagos State where he attended his secondary education. He started writing songs at age 14. [5]

Career

Vasa started posting freestyles and covers on his Instagram page in 2020 when he was 15 years old. [6] In August 2023, Vasa release his official debut singles titled 'Bolanle' [7] and 'Teriza'. [8] In November 2023, his single 'Treasure' debut on Apple Music’s East Africa Risers Shazam Top 200 and Viral Top 50 on Spotify. [9] In January 2024,he released his single titled '50-50' which went viral on the sub urban of Lagos, [10] Nigeria and on February 16 a remix of '50-50' featuring additional vocals from fellow Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda was released. [11] [12] In June 2024 he released debut EP titled Book of Vasa featuring Crayon. [13] [14] On November 1, 2024 he released his sophomore EP titled Book of Vasa Part 2 [15] as sequel to his debut EP which features Jaywillz and Nyola. [16] with positive critical responses. [17] In November 2024, Vasa debut on the TurnTable charts NXT Emerging Top Artistes at 17 on the week November 15th to 21, 2024 with 13.03 pts. [18]

"Peru" is a song by Nigerian singer Fireboy DML. It was released on 20 July 2021, through YBNL Nation, and distributed by Empire. "Peru" was written by Fireboy DML, Ivory Scott, & Kolten Perine and produced by Shizzi & Perine. On 23 December 2021, a reworked version of "Peru" was released, in collaboration with English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. The music video for the version with Sheeran was released on 24 December 2021. An additional remix, featuring rappers 21 Savage and Blxst was also later released. The song was nominated at the 7th annual African Entertainment Awards USA for Song of the Year. The song is not about the country of Peru, but rather a reference to Nigerian singer Peruzzi; the government of Peru nonetheless reacted positively to the song on Twitter.

TurnTable is a Nigerian music and entertainment magazine founded by Ayomide Oriowo, and Similoluwa Adegoke. TurnTable focuses primarily on music charts, news, and events. Its music charts include the Top 100, and the Year-End chart. TurnTable magazine has two issues, and its first issue was published on 19 December 2020, by Similoluwa Adegoke. Its issues are printed in English language. In 2023 the magazine launched its music recording certification, TurnTable Certification System of Nigeria to represent the recording certification system of music industry in Nigeria.

Ekeh Chiaka Joseph known professionally as Majeeed is a Nigerian afropop singer and songwriter signed to Dream Empire Music. He is known for his breakthrough single "Yawa No Dey End", released in 2022 as the lead single off his extended play Bitter Sweet. Uzama signed with Plutomania Records to release his debut extended play (EP) Danger Zee (2023).

Michael Ajuma Attah, popularly known as Llona, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and recording artist. Favor Ekah Ernest, known professionally as Hyce, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and TikTok influencer. He rose to stardom with the release of the song "Ogechi" with Boypee and Brown Joel featuring Davido on the remix which peaked number 1 on official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 songs, Top Streaming Songs, official Top Radio songs chart and was ranked the most searched song lyrics of 2024 in Nigeria by Google.
