Vale School District 84 is a school district headquartered in Vale, Oregon.

The Vale School District takes students from Vale and Brogan, [1] as well as the unincorporated community of Willowcreek. [2] As of 1979 Vale High School also takes high school students from Juntura. [3]

History

In 1967 there were plans to remodel the former high school. [4]

In July 2021 the superintendent opposed mandatory mask mandates imposed by the Oregon state government during the COVID-19 pandemic in Oregon. [5] However in August the district required face coverings and the superintendent expressed concern regarding COVID-19 in the area. The superintendent stated that she would prefer that in-person instruction remain. [6]

In 2023 the district received fiber internet, which meant it now has stronger internet services. [7]

Juntura is an unincorporated community in Malheur County, Oregon, United States on U.S. Route 20. The word juntura is Spanish for "juncture", and the community was named for its proximity to the confluence of the Malheur River with the North Fork Malheur River. The name was probably selected by local settler B. L. Milligan, who arrived in the area in the 1880s and who later served as county school superintendent. Juntura post office was established in 1890 and is still operating. The community's development slowed after World War II, and on November 2, 1976, the town voted to disincorporate. Juntura is part of the Ontario micropolitan area.

The Double-O Ranch Historic District is located west of Harney Lake in Harney County in southeastern Oregon, United States. At one time, the Double-O Ranch covered over 17,000 acres (69 km2). The ranch was owned by Bill Hanley, a well-known cattle baron and Bull Moose progressive. In 1941, the United States Government purchased most of the Double O Ranch property and added it to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The two remaining Double-O Ranch buildings are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Willowcreek is an unincorporated village in Malheur County, Oregon, United States. It is about 11 miles (18 km) northwest of Vale on U.S. Route 26. The village has a combined store and café, and the region's elementary school. Willowcreek is located at 44.114605°N 117.364349°W. Today Willowcreek has a Vale mailing address, although the nearest post office is in nearby Jamieson.

The Malheur Enterprise is a weekly newspaper in Vale, Oregon. It was established in 1909, and since October 2015 has been published by Malheur Enterprise Pub. Co. It is issued weekly on Wednesdays. Early on, it carried the title Malheur Enterprise and Vale Plaindealer. As of 2018 its circulation has been estimated at 1,207 to 1,277.
