The 2005–06 Divizia A was the eighty-eighth season of Divizia A, the top-level football league of Romania. The Season began in August 2005 and ended in June 2006. Steaua București became champions on 7 June, 2006.
The 2005–06 season was the 58th season in the existence of FC Steaua București and the club's 58th consecutive season in the top flight of Romanian football. In addition to the domestic league, Steaua București participated in this season's edition of the Cupa României, the Supercupa României, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup.

The 2005–06 season is FC Vaslui's 4th season of its existence, and its first, in Divizia A. FC Vaslui has promoted last season, after finished 1st in Liga II. In the summer, a lot of experienced players were signed, but after 15 matches, FC Vaslui was in the 16th place, having no victory, with only 6 points. In the winter, FC Vaslui bought Huţan, Sfârlea, Bukvić and Mihalcea. The team impressed in the second half of the season, finishing on 7th place. FC Vaslui assured its presence in the next season in Liga I, on 29th matchday. In the last game of the season, Steaua came to Vaslui, who needed a victory to assure its 23rd title. Unsurprisingly, Steaua won the match, but the win was very contested by Rapid Bucuresti's officials, but also by the team owner, Adrian Porumboiu. On the very next day, he announced his retirement from FC Vaslui, and the team also remained with only 8 players for the new season.
CS Sporting Juniorul Vaslui, commonly known as Sporting Vaslui, Juniorul Vaslui or simply as Vaslui, is a Romanian professional football club based in Vaslui, Vaslui County, founded in 2002 and re-founded in 2014. The club is currently competing in the Liga V. Its official club colours are yellow and green, hence the nickname "the Yellow and Greens". The club is currently owned by CS Sporting Juniorul Vaslui and FC Vaslui Supporters Association and has the legal right to use FC Vaslui Brand.
The 2002–03 season was the first season in the history of Vaslui. In what was their inaugural season as a professional club, Victoria Galaţi moved to Vaslui after an agreement between Marius Stan and the Vaslui Municipality to use the Municipal Stadium. The team also changed the colour of its kit, wearing yellow and green striped jerseys for the first time.
