Vakhushti (1696–1757) was a Georgian royal prince (batonishvili), geographer, historian and cartographer. His principal historical and geographic works, Description of the Kingdom of Georgia and the Geographical Atlas, were inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register in 2013.
Valérian and Laureline, also known as Valérian: Spatio-Temporal Agent or just Valérian, is a French science fiction comics series, created by writer Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières. First published in Pilote magazine in 1967, the final installment was published in 2010. All of the Valérian stories have been collected in comic album format, comprising some twenty-one volumes plus a short story collection and an encyclopaedia.
Jean-Claude Mézières is a French comic strip artist and illustrator. Born and raised in Paris, he was introduced to drawing by his older brother and influenced by comics artists such as Hergé, Andre Franquin and Morris and later by Jijé and Jack Davis. Educated at the Institut des Arts Appliqués, upon graduation he worked as an illustrator for books and magazines as well as in advertising. A lifelong interest in the Wild West led him to travel to the United States in 1965 in search of adventure as a cowboy, an experience that would prove influential on his later work.
Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti is a region (Mkhare) in northwestern Georgia which includes the historical provinces of Racha, Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti. It covers an area of 4,954 km² and has a population of 31,927, but nominally also a section of northwest South Ossetia, over which Georgia has no jurisdiction and control. It is the most sparsely populated region in the country. The capital is Ambrolauri.
Zacharia Petres dze Paliashvili, also known as Zachary Petrovich Paliashvili, was a Georgian composer. Regarded as one of the founders of the Georgian classical music, his work is known for its eclectic fusion of folk songs and stories with 19th-century Romantic classical themes. He was the founder of the Georgian Philharmonic Society and later, the head of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. The Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi was named in his honor in 1937. Notably, Paliashvili's music serves as the basis of the National Anthem of Georgia.
Andrew P. Sidamon-Eristoff is a Georgian American Republican Party lawyer, politician and government official from New York City who served as New Jersey State Treasurer under Governor Chris Christie from January 2010 until his resignation in July 2015. He previously served as Commissioner of Tax and Finance under New York State Governor George E. Pataki from September 2003 until November 2006 and Commissioner of Finance for the City of New York under Mayor Rudolph Giuliani from 1999 to 2001.

Georgian art has evolved for millennia. With roots in rich archaic and ethnic tradition, Georgian art has grown along with the development of the Georgian statehood, starting from the ancient kingdoms of Colchis and Iberia. The location of Georgia on the crossroads of Asia and Europe has brought travelers, merchants, missionaries and conquerors of all kinds and creeds, and defined the country's cultural and artistic environment throughout its history. Georgian art tradition has thus experienced influences from Mesopotamian, Anatolian, Greek, Persian, Roman and Byzantine art throughout antiquity. It has further grown within the framework of Christian ecclesiastical and middle-eastern art of the Middle Ages, and ultimately it has evolved in the context of European and Russian art from the 19th century onwards.
Victor J. Zolfo is a set decorator who has worked in the film industry since the late 1980s. Zolfo won the Academy Award for Best Art Direction and the BAFTA Award for Best Production Design for the 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, sharing the awards for the film with art director and production designer Donald Graham Burt. He was also part of the 20-person team who won the Art Directors Guild's Excellence in Production Design Award for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Prince Simon Sidamon-Eristavi was a Georgian aristocrat and soldier, who began his career in the Imperial Russian army and became one of the leading officers in the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Following the sovietization of Georgia in 1921, he immigrated to the United States, where he was known as Simon Sidamon-Eristoff after his Russified surname and worked as an engineer. His son Constantine and grandson Andrew had political careers in the United States.
Robert Stromberg is an American special effects artist, designer and filmmaker. Stromberg's credits include films such as James Cameron's Avatar, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and Sam Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful, the former two earning him Academy Award wins for Best Art Direction. He made his directorial debut with the 2014 Disney film Maleficent, a re-imagining of the iconic Disney villain. He is set to direct the upcoming film, Carnival, which will begin filming in Fall 2017.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is a 2017 English-language French 3D space opera film written and directed by Luc Besson, and co-produced by Besson and his wife, Virginie Besson-Silla. The film is based on the French science fiction comics series Valérian and Laureline, written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières. It stars Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline, with Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock, Kris Wu and Rutger Hauer in supporting roles. Besson independently crowd-sourced and personally funded Valerian. With a production budget of around $180 million, it is both the most expensive European and independent film ever made.

February 16, 1919, Kutaisi– March, 2004, Tbilisi In 1937-1942, Ana Shalikashvili studied oil painting under the guidance of David Kakabadze and Valerian Sidamon-Eristavi and drawing under the tutorship of Tamar Abakelia and Sergo Kobuladze at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, and later went on to work at the Kutaisi Theater. After having returned to Tbilisi in 1947, she was employed by the Georgian Film Studio as an animator at first and then as an art director. In the 1950s, she carried out productive work in the area of illustrations for children's books.
