Vasant Narhar Phene (28 April 1926 - 6 March 2018, India) was a Marathi language author. He is well known in Maharashtra for his novels and articles. In 2004, he received the N.S. Phadke Award for his work. [1]
His books include Central Bus Station (सेन्ट्रल बस स्टेशन), Panchkathai (पंचकथाए), Mule Ani Pale (मुले अणि पाले), and Pita-Putra (पिता पुत्र). [2]

Narhar Vishnu Gadgil was an Indian freedom fighter and politician from Maharashtra, India. He was also a writer. He wrote in both Marathi and English. His son Vitthalrao Gadgil represented Congress later as minister and ideologue. His grandson Anant Gadgil also went on to become a politician.

Vasant Panchami, also rendered Vasanta Panchami and Saraswati Puja in honour of the Hindu goddess Saraswati, is a festival that marks the preparation for the arrival of spring. The festival is celebrated in Indian religions in different ways depending on the region. Vasant Panchami also marks the start of preparation for Holika and Holi, which take place forty days later. The Vasant Utsava (festival) on Panchami is celebrated forty days before spring, because any season's transition period is 40 days, and after that, the season comes into full bloom.
Vasant Purushottam Sathe was an Indian politician of the Indian National Congress party. He was a lawyer by training and became a parliamentarian in 1972 and a cabinet minister during the 1980s. He was a socialist and came to prominence in the congress after Indira Gandhi split the party for a second time in 1978. He was also known for his tenure as Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting when he initiated the process which led to Indian television moving into colour broadcasting for the Asian Games 1982 and Hum Log the first colour Indian soap-opera.
Aakrosh (transl. Outrage) is a 1980 Indian Hindi-language legal drama film directed by Govind Nihalani in his debut, and written by Vijay Tendulkar. Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Amrish Puri in pivotal roles, the film was released to widely positive reviews, winning the Golden Peacock at the 8th International Film Festival of India, as well as the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and several other honors.

Vasant Shankar Huzurbazar was an Indian statistician from Kolhapur. Huzurbazar was the founder head of the department of statistics, University of Pune from 1953 to 1976. From 1976 to 1979, he was visiting professor of statistics at the University of Manitoba. From 1979 to 1991, he served as professor at University of Denver, Colorado until his death. He served as visiting professor for two years to the Iowa State University in 1962.
Jialal Vasant was an Indian classical musician and music instructor. He was the founder of the Mumbai music school Acharya Jialal Vasant Sangeet Niketan. During his career as an instructor he taught a wide variety of students, including playback singers Suresh Wadkar and Vikas Bhalla. After his death, the school was taken over by his daughter, Prem Vasant, and Suresh Wadkar.
Hajib Shakarbar was born as the younger of the two sons of Shams Tabrizi and Shams Sabzwari in 1213 AC. His grand parents named him Alauddin Muhammad, but when his father returned from Tabriz to see his newborn baby, he changed the name from Alauddin Muhammad to Syed Ahmad because he had a dream to this effect in Tabriz. The new baby showed the signs of a born Hafiz and so came to be known as Zinda Pir from his very infancy. He got the title of Shakarbar in Sabzwar and of Hajib in Makkah, and became so famous with the sweet combination of Hajib Shakarbar that his original names went into total oblivion. He joined his father in Multan, Pakistan, with his elder brother Naseeruddin, and a large armed escort of Turkish, Iraqi and Kabul fighters in 1289 AC.
Richard Phené Spiers was an English architect and author. He occupied a unique position amongst the English architects of the latter half of the 19th century, his long mastership of the architectural school at the Royal Academy of Arts having given him the opportunity of moulding and shaping the minds of more than a generation of students. Spiers wrote most of the articles dealing with architecture for the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica.

Vasant Ranchhod Gowariker was an Indian scientist. He was a director in the Indian Space Research Organization and also the scientific advisor to the Prime Minister of India from 1991 to 1993. Gowariker made valuable contributions to the fields of space research, weather and population. He was well known for his monsoon forecast model as he was the first scientist to develop an indigenous weather forecasting model that predicted the monsoon correctly.
Madhavan Pillai Ramakrishna Kurup was an Indian rocket scientist and the founder of the first solid rocket propellant plant in India at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. He is known to have contributed to the successful launching of the Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle (ASLV) as the director of the VSSC centre in Thiruvananthapuram. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award of Padma Shri in 1990.
Annasaheb Sahasrabuddhe was an Indian independence activist, Gandhian, social worker and one of the leaders of Bhoodan movement, initiated by Vinoba Bhave. He was the secretary of Sevagram Trust, Wardha and chaired the Standing Committee of Rural Industries set up by the Government of India, under the aegis of the Planning Commission of India in 1960. When Vinoba Bhave introduced Gramdan program as a part of the Bhoodan movement, Sahasrabuddhe was entrusted with the implementation of the program in Koraput district of Odisha and it was reported that he carried out the scheme successfully. He was a close associate of Baba Amte, a renowned social activist. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1970, for his contributions to the society. The story of his life has been documented in his autobiography, Mazi Jadan. The Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI) has instituted an annual award, Annasaheb Sahasrabuddhe Award, in his memory.
