Amorphis is a Finnish heavy metal band founded by Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari, and Esa Holopainen in 1990. Initially, the band was a death metal act, but on later albums they evolved into playing other genres, including progressive metal, and folk metal. They frequently use the Kalevala, the epic poem of Finland, as a source for their lyrics.
Sotajumala was a Finnish death metal band from Jyväskylä, formed in 1998. The band has released four albums, two maxi singles, one single and one split EP. They have played a lot of shows in their home country, including Tuska, Jalometalli, Nummirock, Lutakko Liekeissä and Pellavarock festivals. In Finland the band has also toured with Nile, Misery Index and Grave as well as supported Obituary, Napalm Death and Vader at one-off shows. The band split-up in 2016.

Privilege of Evil is the first EP by Finnish heavy metal band Amorphis released in 1993. It is a collection of demo material from Amorphis' early career recorded in Timo Tolkki's (Stratovarius) TTT Studio in 1991. At that time only two of these songs were picked for the band's first 7" single, but the full session was released two years later on this EP. On the EP's reissue by Relapse Records, the band became upset to hear that their early material was released. The material on this EP was originally meant to be for a split album with Incantation, which never materialized. Incantation's half of the split would only be released individually sixteen years later as the Blasphemous Cremation EP.
My Kantele is the second EP by Finnish heavy metal band Amorphis, released in 1997. It is not to be confused with the song "My Kantele" from the album Elegy, which is not on this compilation, although the title is still used as it contains the acoustic version of "My Kantele" and four previously unreleased songs. The song "My Kantele" is a traditional Finnish song from the 1840 collection Kanteletar, sung by Loituma.

Mikko Herranen is a Finnish singer and musician. His current band Misterer is a thrash metal band from Helsinki and they are preparing songs for their upcoming debut album. Previously, he fronted RUST, which released three albums and several singles between 2003 and 2010. Herranen competed in Michael Monroe's team in the reality singing competition The Voice of Finland in 2012. His debut solo album Kylmä maailma was released through Johanna Kustannus in June 2012.
RUST was a Finnish rock band from Helsinki formed in 2001. The band's first album, Softly, was released in Finland in August 2004 and reached Top 50 on the national album chart with promising reviews in music papers, magazines and web magazines in Europe. Finland's top nationwide rock radio network YleX chose Softly as the album of the week in August 2004. The singer and bass guitarist, Mikko Herranen, has produced all of the band's recordings, including three full-length albums, two EPs and five singles.

Cardiant is a Finnish power metal band. It was established in city of Hämeenlinna in 2000, but most of band members have been replaced and the current assembly has been working since 2008. In the early years, the band recorded several demos until it signed a contract with the record company Underground Symphony. The first album, Midday Moon, was released in 2005, but the record company did not release it in Europe. However, another record company, Marquee/Avalon, released it in Japan.

Pauli Hanhiniemi is a Finnish singer, songwriter and musician, who was born in Alavus. Starting his career in 1982, he formed the famous Finnish rock band Kolmas Nainen in 1982. After the break-up of the band in 1994, he formed Pauli Hanhiniemen Perunateatteri that performed until 2005. He later joined Hehkumo, a band with more traditional sound. In 2009, the highly popular Kolmas Nainen returned with two new studio albums and great commercial success.
