Vempalli Gangadhar is a writer from Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. He has been awarded Sahitya Akademi's Yuva Puraskar for 2011 for his short-story collection "Molakala Punnami". [1]

Gangadhar, recipient of Central Sahitya Academy's first Yuva Puraskar, had been a guest of the President in Rashtrapathi Bhavan from 8 to 26 September 2014. [2]

Molakala Punnami

Gangadhar's award-winning book Molakala Punnami is a collection of 13 short-stories. It was published in 2006 and is woven around the plight of farmers. Gunturu Seshendra Sarma, a Telugu poet, has written the foreword for the book. [3]

Other works

Gangadhar, a doctorate holder from the Sri Venkateswara University, has ten books to his name so far. He has also won an award for a previous work. His Mynapu Bommalu won the American Telugu Association award. The book is about sex workers. [3]

Parakkulathil Vatsala was an Indian Malayalam novelist, short story writer, and social activist from Kerala. She is a recipient of Ezhuthachan Puraskaram 2021, the highest literary honour by the government of Kerala. She is only the fifth woman to receive the award since its institution in 1993.

Vempalle Shareef is an Indian Short Story Writer. He writes stories in Telugu. He is also a senior journalist. Shaik Mohammad Shareef also known as Vempalle Shareef hails from the Vempalli village of Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. He has so far published 60 stories in Telugu, out of which 30 are for children. Shareef is also worked as the Chief Sub Editor & News Presenter for Sakshi TV in Hyderabad. He was earlier an RJ with AIR, Hyderabad. Having an academic flair, he completed his PhD with the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University.

His grandfather migrated to Idukki from Kottayam in 1944. He was born as the son of NG Mohanan and Sobhana. Aswathy Sasikumar is a Malayalam language short story writer from Kerala, India. Her first short story collection Josephinte Manam has won the 2017 Yuva Puraskar and the 2015 Kerala Sahitya Akademi Geetha Hiranyan Endowment. She has also received several other awards including Vaikkom Muhammad Basheer Awardand EP Sushama Ankanam Award.
