Aleksis Kivi was a Finnish writer who wrote the first significant novel in the Finnish language, Seitsemän veljestä, published in 1870. He is also known for his 1864 play, Nummisuutarit. Although Kivi was among the very earliest writers of prose and lyrics in Finnish, he is still considered one of the greatest.

Rehn ran for President of Finland as an independent candidate in 2024, but was not elected.

Märta Elisabeth Rehn is a Finnish former politician and diplomat. She served as the Minister of Defence of Finland during 1990 to 1995 and as an Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations during 1998 to 1999. She was also a member of the Finnish Parliament and parliamentary leader of the Swedish People's Party of Finland, and a member of the European Parliament.
Maria Edith Guzenina is a Finnish politician who became a household name in Finland after working as the first Finnish video jockey for MTV Europe from 1993 until 1997. Her career in journalism started in the late 1980s, when only at the age of 17 and still a student in high school she became a co-host of a famous Finnish television personality Timo T. A. Mikkonen in his daily magazine-type program. Since then she has hosted several television programs and shows for the Finnish National Broadcasting Company, hosted several radio talk shows and has written articles and columns for numerous Finnish newspapers and magazines.
Jutta Pauliina Urpilainen is a Finnish politician. She was the first female chair of the Social Democratic Party of Finland, which she led from 2008 to 2014. She was the Minister of Finance as well as the Deputy Prime Minister of Finland from 2011 to 2014. Since 1 December 2019, she is the European Commissioner for International Partnerships in the European Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen. She announced her candidacy for the 2024 election for President of Finland in November 2023.
Presidential elections were held in Finland on 16 January 1994, with a second round on 6 February. It was the first time the President had been solely and directly elected by a popular vote. Martti Ahtisaari defeated Elisabeth Rehn in the second round.
Carl Christoffer ”Calle” Haglund is the CEO of Veritas, a Finnish Pension insurance company, former MP, former chairman of the Swedish People's Party and the former Minister of Defence. He was member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2009 to 2012. Haglund was elected chairman of his party in June 2012. Haglund serves as the chairman of the board for Finnish Business and Policy Forum EVA and Research Institute of the Finnish Economy Etla. Haglund also currently serves on the board of Aktia Bank Plc and Enersense International Plc.
Terttu Savola is a Finnish politician. She is the chairperson of the For the Poor party, a member of the council of the city of Espoo, the ambassador for human rights and children's rights in the Finnish United Nations alliance, and a lecturer in the Finnish Refugee Help Association.
Hanna Katariina Mäntylä is a Finnish politician and the former Minister of Social Affairs and Health. She represented the Finns Party until June 2017 and was the second deputy chairwoman of the party. She was elected to the Parliament from Lapland in 2011. She maintained her seat in the 2015 parliamentary election. She was appointed Minister of Social Affairs and Health in May 2015.
Susanna Koski is a Finnish politician and a former member of the Finnish Parliament, representing the National Coalition Party. Koski was elected to the parliament in 2015, gaining 3,102 votes in the elections. She has also been a member of the City Council of Vaasa since 2012.
Anne-Mari Virolainen is a Finnish politician of the National Coalition Party who has been a member of the Parliament of Finland since 2007, representing Finland Proper.

Kaarina Elisabeth Suonio is a Finnish retired politician and psychologist. She represented Helsinki in the Parliament of Finland from 1975 to 1986 as a member of the Social Democratic Party. From 1982 to 1986, she was Finland's minister of education, and from 1994 to 1997, she was the last governor of Häme Province prior to its merger with other provinces.

Annika Anita Lapintie is a Finnish Left Alliance Member of Parliament (1995–2019) and Member of Turku City Council (1989–2012). Lapintie was the chairman of the Left Alliance parliamentary group in Finland from 2006 to 2015. He chaired the Constitutional Affairs Committee from 2015 to 2019.
