Veronica Yoko Plebani (born 1 March 1996) is an Italian Paralympic athlete who has competed in snowboarding, paracanoeing and paratriathlon. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Paratriathlon, Women's PTS2, winning a bronze medal. [1] [2] [3]
Plebani was born in Gavardo, in the province of Brescia, on 1 March 1996 and residing in Palazzolo sull'Oglio. Since childhood she has practiced numerous sports such as dance, gymnastics, athletics and snowboarding.
On 27 April 2011, Plebani contracted meningitis, which she survived with the loss of the phalanges of the hands and toes. [4] In November 2011, just out of the hospital, she participated in the 5k the day before the New York City Marathon crossing the finish line with 28 runners of the Monza Marathon Team. In the meantime, she became part of the art4sport team, through which she began practicing canoeing and snowboarding. [5] Plebani holds Political Science degree from University of Bologna. [6]
She competed at the 2014 Winter Paralympics, in snowboarding, and at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, in kayaking. [7] In 2017, she started paratriathlon, and competed at the 2017 ITA Paratriathlon National Championships and the 2017 Besancon ITU Paratriathlon World Cup, winning gold medals. [8] [9]

Sarah Reinertsen is an American Paralympic triathlete and former track athlete. She was born with proximal femoral focal deficiency, a bone-growth disorder; her affected leg was amputated above the knee at age seven.
Sandra "Sandy" Dukat is an American Paralympic athlete. Born with proximal femoral focal deficiency, she had her right leg amputated above the knee at the age of four. She has competed internationally in alpine skiing, swimming and triathlon. As of February 2013, she holds the marathon world record for above-knee amputee women.
Assunta Legnante is a visually impaired Italian shot putter. She has competed in both the Olympics and the Paralympics, one of the few athletes to do so. As of February 2013, she is the current F11 shot put world record holder. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Women's discus throw F11, and Women's shot put F12, winning silver medals.
Melissa Stockwell is an American two-time Paralympic triathlete, swimmer and former U.S. Army officer. Competing in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in three swimming events, she returned to race in the 2016 Paralympic Games and won a bronze medal in the inaugural triathlon event on September 11, 2016.

Claire Cashmore, is a Paralympic Swimming Champion and PTS5 classified British paratriathlete. She has been to four Paralympic Games with swimming and has won 4 bronze, 3 silver, and 1 gold medal. Cashmore also broke the world record in the SM9 100m Individual Medley in 2009. She decided to switch to competing in paratriathlon after winning gold and silver at the Paralympic Games in 2016, and became ITU World Champion in the PTS5 classification in 2019. Kathleen Margaret "Katie" Kelly is an Australian paratriathlete, who has a degenerative disease known as Usher syndrome. Kelly began competing in the PT5 paratriathlon classification in February 2015 when her condition deteriorated to a legally blind state. She has just 30 per cent of her vision. With her guide Michellie Jones, Kelly won gold medals at the 2015 and 2017 ITU World Championships and 2016 Rio Paralympics. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
