Veveni Lasaqa (born 6 April 2002) is a New Zealand rugby union player, who plays for the Hurricanes and Bay of Plenty. His preferred position is flanker. [1]
Lasaqa was born in Lautoka, Fiji, but moved to New Zealand to attend Tauranga Boys' College. [2] He plays his club rugby for Greerton Marist. [3]
Lasaqa has represented Bay of Plenty in the National Provincial Championship since 2021, being named in their full squad for the 2023 Bunnings NPC. [4] He was called into the Hurricanes squad ahead of Round 2 of the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season, making his debut against the Reds. [5]
Bay of Plenty are a New Zealand professional rugby union team based in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. The union was originally established in 1911, with the National Provincial Championship established in 1976. They now play in the reformed National Provincial Championship competition. They play their home games at Rotorua International Stadium in Rotorua or Tauranga Domain, Tauranga, both in the Bay of Plenty Region. The team is affiliated with the Chiefs Super Rugby franchise. Their home playing colours are blue and yellow.
