Vicki Self is a Tennessee Walking Horse trainer who won a World Grand Championship on the horse Flashy Pride in 1991. She had previously ridden Flashy Pride to the Reserve World Grand Championship in 1990.

Life and career

Self lives in Lewisburg, Tennessee. [1] Self first began training the chestnut stallion Flashy Pride in 1988, after he was purchased by Fancy Free Farms, where she was the resident trainer. [2] Flashy Pride had been previously trained by Bud Seaton, another notable trainer, and Self worked in conjunction with him in order to become accustomed to the then-nine-year-old horse. Because Self felt she did not know Flashy Pride well, she allowed Seaton to show him in the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration that year. The following year Self rode Flashy Pride in the Celebration but the pair did not win the class they entered, although they won the stake class in the Florida State Championship horse show a short time later. [2] In 1990 they again competed in the Celebration's World Grand Championship and placed second, making them the Reserve World Grand Champions. In 1991 Self showed Flashy Pride only twice, winning both competitions, before going on to the Celebration. They won the World Grand Championship in a unanimous decision by the 5 judges. [2] Self was the third woman to win the World Grand Championship, after Betty Sain in 1966 and Judy Martin in 1976. Bud Dunn American racehorse trainer

Emerson "Bud" Dunn was a Tennessee Walking Horse trainer from Kentucky who spent most of his career in northern Alabama. He trained horses for over forty years and won his first Tennessee Walking Horse World Grand Championship at age 74 with Dark Spirit's Rebel; at the time, he was the oldest rider to win the honor. He was inducted into the Tennessee Walking Horse Hall of Fame in 1987 and named trainer of the year in 1980 and 1991. In 1999 at age 81, Dunn surpassed his own record for the oldest winning rider by winning his second World Grand Championship, riding RPM. He died of a heart attack in January 2001.

Ebony Masterpiece was a Tennessee Walking Horse stallion who won a World Grand Championship in 1962. After his show career he retired to stud, where he sired over 3,500 foals, six of which also became World Grand Champions.

Billy Gray was a Tennessee Walking Horse trainer who won four World Grand Championships on different horses. Gray was named Trainer of the Year in 1982.

RPM (horse)

RPM was a Tennessee Walking Horse who won a World Grand Championship in 1999. As a four-year-old, RPM was sold for $1.25 million, estimated at the time to be the highest price ever paid for a Tennessee Walking Horse. RPM was trained by Bud Dunn, who also trained the horse's sire to a World Grand Championship in 1992.

Dark Spirits Rebel

Dark Spirit's Rebel was a Tennessee Walking Horse who won a World Grand Championship in 1992. Nicknamed Rebel, the horse was trained by Alabama resident Bud Dunn. After his show career was over, Rebel sired the 1999 World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse, RPM.

Sam Paschal was a Tennessee Walking Horse trainer from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Paschal trained three horses who won the breed's World Grand Championship.

Judy Martin is a Tennessee Walking Horse trainer. Martin trained the World Grand Champion Shades of Carbon, and was Tennessee Walking Horse Trainer of the Year in 1976. She also judged horse shows.

He's Puttin' on the Ritz (1991-2016) was a Tennessee Walking Horse stallion who won World Championships at the ages of two and three before winning his breed's World Grand Championship in 1996.

William Earl Bobo is a Tennessee Walking Horse trainer. He won the World Grand Championship at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in 2003 with the stallion The Whole Nine Yards. Bobo also showed the notable horse Rowdy Rev, who competed in the World Grand Championship several times but never won. Bobo has been named Trainer of the Year by the Walking Horse Trainers Association.

Gen's Armed and Dangerous is a Tennessee Walking Horse stallion who won his breed's World Grand Championship in 1994.

Rowdy Rev is a Tennessee Walking Horse stallion who won the Reserve World Grand Championship in the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. Although he repeatedly competed in the World Grand Championship, he never won, despite wins in other large shows.

Chad Baucom (1967–2016) was a Tennessee Walking Horse trainer. He was best known for winning the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration on the stallion Walk Time Charlie.

Vic Thompson was a Tennessee Walking Horse trainer. He and the horse Sun's Jet Parade won the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration's World Grand Championship in 1957. Thompson was the first president of the Walking Horse Trainers' Association and was later inducted into the Tennessee Walking Horse Hall of Fame.

Kenny Ailshie (1948–2008) was an American horse trainer who specialized in Racking Horses. Ailshie won the World Grand Championship in the Racking Horse World Celebration 6 times, more than any other trainer. Alshie's son Keith and daughter Buffy have also won numerous Championships.

Cash for Keeps is a Tennessee Walking Horse who won the World Grand Championship in the 2000 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. He returned to competition 6 years later and won Plantation Lite-Shod World Championships with both Ray Gilmer and Dr. Jeanne Morrison.

Master of Jazz is a Tennessee Walking Horse who won the World Grand Championship in 2007. Originally ridden in amateur horse show classes, he made the transition to professional competition in 2005 and won his breed's largest show, the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, two years later.

Pride's Generator (1975-2001) was a Tennessee Walking Horse who won three World Championships before being retired to breeding. Standing at stud first at S. W.
