Vicky van der Merwe (born 1989) is a South African athlete who competes in triathlon. She won a gold medal at the 2023 African Games and three gold medals at the African Triathlon Championships, in 2023 and 2024. [1] In 2024, she became an Olympian, representing South Africa at the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris. [2]

She has awarded two South African championship titles each in both road race and time trial, and later represented her nation South Africa at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Marissa also raced for the nation's MTN Cycling team before her official retirement in 2011.

Shadine van der Merwe is a South African netball player. She was a member of the South African squad that secured fifth place at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. van der Merwe was signed by the Surrey Storm in the UK Superleague in 2018, and was also selected in South Africa's national senior team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2019 Netball World Cup. In May 2019 she was signed by the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Australian Super Netball league, having been selected by the team as a replacement player for the long-term injured Beth Cobden. She is now signed to the Manchester Thunder for the 2022- 2023 season.

He won the gold medal in the Men's Triathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, the silver medal in the same event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the gold medal in the Triathlon Mixed Relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and the bronze medal in the same event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. With two golds, one silver, and one bronze medal, Yee is the most successful triathlete in Olympic history.

Lara van Niekerk is a South African competitive swimmer. She won gold medals in the 50-metre breaststroke at the 2018 African Swimming Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games as well as a silver medal at the 2022 World Short Course Championships and the bronze medal at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in the same event. In the 100-metre breaststroke, she won gold medals at the 2018 African Swimming Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Dutch athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the sparsely attended 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis and 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, which the Netherlands boycotted because of the Soviet invasion of Hungary.
