Victoria Park is the third full-length studio album from lo-fi experimental music project Fog Lake. Entirely self-produced by Aaron Powell in both his parents' home and his apartment in St John's, Newfoundland, the album was released June 30, 2015 on cassette format through Orchid Tapes. [1]
Upon garnering a larger following after 2014's Virgo Indigo and 2013's Farther Reaches and working with cassette-based DIY labels Birdtapes and Orchid Tapes, Powell worked on Victoria Park in both the city of St John's and Glovertown, Newfoundland. Heavily featuring piano-styled folk songs, it mostly abandons the ambient, dream-pop songs that accumulated Virgo Indigo for a more singer-songwriter like approach. The album takes its title from the park located in downtown St. John's in which Powell "spent two years as its neighbor". [2] It spawned one single Bury My Dead Horses and a music video for the song Shanty Town which was produced by California-based filmmaker Tyler T. Williams. [3]
Video 2000 is a consumer videocassette system and analogue recording standard developed by Philips and Grundig to compete with JVC's VHS and Sony's Betamax video technologies. It was designed for the PAL color television standard, but some models additionally handled SECAM. Distribution of Video 2000 products began in 1979 exclusively in Europe, South Africa and Argentina and ended in 1988.

A mixtape is a compilation of music, typically from multiple sources, recorded onto a medium. With origins in the 1980s, the term normally describes a homemade compilation of music onto a cassette tape, CD, or digital playlist. The songs are either ordered sequentially or made into a continuous programme by beatmatching the songs and creating seamless transitions at their beginnings and endings with fades or abrupt edits. Essayist Geoffrey O'Brien described this definition of the mixtape as "perhaps the most widely practiced American art form".
The Sharon, Lois & Bram Car Tunes collection is a set of mini-cassette recordings released by the Canadian children's music trio Sharon, Lois & Bram in 1989 and 1990; some were re-released in 1995. It is the largest collection of music in the trio's repertoire. The collection consists of "mid-price[d] mini-tapes for children and their families." It contains a total of eight cassettes released under their own Elephant Records label. Each cassette contains between ten and twenty songs, all from previous Sharon, Lois & Bram albums. Fog Lake is the musical alias of Canadian singer-songwriter Aaron Powell. Powell began writing and recording songs in his hometown of Glovertown, Newfoundland. In 2014, Powell moved from cassette label Birdtapes to become part of the New York based Orchid Tapes, run by Warren Hildebrand. Powell's recordings have been described as "a complex collage of nebulous angst and heartfelt nostalgia".
