Vikash Singh (born 6 July 1996) is an Indian athlete from Kerala. [1] He takes part in 20km race walk. He is selected to represent India in the 2024 Summer Olympics at Paris. [2]

Career

Singh met the Olympic qualifying mark at the Asian 20km Race Walking Championships by clocking 1:20:05 seconds on way to a silver medal on 19 March 2023. The qualifying mark was 1hour, 20min, 10sec. Paramjeet, who won the bronze medal also crossed the qualifying mark and made it to the Olympics. [2] The duo will take part in the 20km race walk at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. [3]

Gurmeet Singh is an Indian athlete who competes in the 20 kilometres race walk event. He is a current Indian record holder in the 20 km race walk, which he set in the Indian Grand Prix I in Patiala in May 2011. Gurmeet is sponsored by the Mittal Champions Trust, an initiative run by steel magnate Lakshmi N. Mittal. He is one of the three Indian athletes who qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in 20 km race walk event with an 'A' qualification standard (1:22:30). He achieved this berth in the 18th Dublin International Grand Prix in Ireland after finishing sixth with a time of 1:22:05.

Khushbir Kaur is an Indian athlete, a 20-kilometre racewalker. She first came into limelight after winning bronze in the 10,000-metre (6.2 mi) walk race at the 2012 Asian Junior Athletics Championships held at Colombo, Sri Lanka. She participated in the 2013 World Championships in the 20 km walk category. She clocked 1:34:28 and finished 39th. At the 2014 Asian walking championships in Japan, she came second with a timing of 1:33:07 and bettered her own national record of 1:33:37. In the same year, she became the first Indian woman to win a silver at the Asian Games. She received the Arjuna Award in 2017 after her consecutive victories in International sports events.

She won the silver medal in the 10,000 meters walk at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She is first Indian woman to win a medal in race walk with a silver in the 10,000m event. She qualified for the Paris Olympics by meeting the mark at the Indian Open National Race walking competition in Ranchi on 14 February 2023.

She secured an Olympic quota berth for the Paris Olympics in the women's skeet event by winning a gold medal at the Asian Shotgun Championships, an Asian Olympic qualifier event on 20 January 2024 at Kuwait City. She became the first Indian woman to potentially qualify for an Olympic skeet event. It also brought the Indian Olympic quota count to 19. The quota berth won by a shooter is a berth for the country and the Federation, which can nominate any shooter for Olympics, as per set criteria.

Akshdeep Singh is an Indian athlete from Punjab who competes in the 20 kilometres race walk. He holds the Indian National record in 20km race walk. He qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in the 20 km race walk and the mixed marathon race walking which makes its debut at the Paris Olympics, along with Priyanka Goswami.

Paramjeet Singh Bisht is an Indian athlete from Uttarakhand. He takes part in 20km race walk. He is selected to represent India in the 2024 Summer Olympics at Paris.

Suraj Panwar is an Indian athlete from Uttarakhand. He takes part in 20km race walk. He is selected to represent India in the 2024 Summer Olympics at Paris in 20km marathon race walking mixed relay team along with Priyanka Goswami. He won a sliver at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in men's 20 km race walk.
