Villiers School is an independent coeducational Protestant day and boarding secondary school located on the North Circular Road, Limerick, Ireland.

History

Founded from the estate of Hannah Villiers in 1821, the school has a Protestant ethos and is managed by the Headmistress on behalf of the board of governors. The school relocated from Henry Street to its current location on the Tivoli campus on the North Circular Road less than one mile from Limerick city centre in 1953.[ citation needed ]

The Rubberbandits are an Irish comedy hip-hop duo from Limerick city. They consist of Blindboy Boatclub and Mr Chrome. They are often accompanied by DJ Willie O'DJ, a silent masked caricature of local politician Willie O'Dea. The group describe themselves as artists, and have dubbed their movement as "Gas Cuntism".

Vere Wynne-Jones was one of Ireland's best-known broadcasters, as a journalist and commentator on both RTÉ radio and television and also on Dublin radio station Q 102. Wynne-Jones was originally a teacher, then a broadcast journalist, sports commentator, and latterly a public relations advisor and public relations educator. He also had a number of cameo roles in The Den's Christmas Specials. He was the son of a Church of Ireland clergyman, Reverend Martin Jones. Through his mother he was related to the de Veres of Curraghchase.

Mick Hanly is an Irish singer and composer from Limerick. In the 1970s, he formed several folk music duos, first with Mícheál Ó Domhnaill, then with Andy Irvine and, more recently, with Dónal Lunny. From 1982 until 1985, he was a member of Moving Hearts. Hanly is known for composing "Past the Point of Rescue", which was first covered by Mary Black (1988) and also by American artist Hal Ketchum (1991).

The 16th Irish Film & Television Academy Awards took place on 18 October 2020. Because no ceremony was held in 2019, this ceremony honoured films and television drama released in both 2018 and 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no physical ceremony took place; instead, there was a "virtual ceremony" hosted by Deirdre O’Kane.
