Vinod Bharathan is an Indian filmmaker based in Copenhagen. He was educated in filmmaking at film schools in Copenhagen.

He is behind the cinematography and editing of most of his films. Limbo, a short film he shot using an iPhone was awarded Best Film at Indie Fone Fest, U.S.A. and Sony Circuito Off, Venice 2012. [1] [2] Karma Cartel which is his debut film had a two-member crew and was shot on HDV using Canon XH A1.

Bharathan is noted for being the founder of a new school of film making in Malayalam cinema, along with Padmarajan and K. G. George, in the 1980s, which created films that were widely received while also being critically acclaimed. A train of directors, and screenwriters followed this school onto the 1990s including Sibi Malayil, Kamal, Lohithadas and Jayaraj.

Parinda (transl. Bird) is a 1989 Indian Hindi-language crime drama film directed, produced and distributed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film stars Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Madhuri Dixit. The story and scenario were written by Chopra, while Shiv Kumar Subramaniam and Imtiyaz Husain wrote the screenplay and dialogues, respectively. R. D. Limbo is a 2D side-scroller, incorporating a physics system that governs environmental objects and the player character. Nidra is a 2012 Indian Malayalam-language romantic thriller film directed by Sidharth Bharathan in his directorial debut. A remake of the 1981 film of the same name directed by Sidharth's father Bharathan, it stars Sidharth Bharathan alongside Rima Kallingal and Jishnu in the main roles.
