The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second-oldest continuously operating professional basketball league in the world after North America's NBA.

It is a state broadcaster owned by the Government Communications Group under the Presidential Communications Office (PCO). IBC is also commonly referred to as "The Kaibigan Network", the Filipino term for "friend", which was introduced in 2019.

AKTV was the primetime sports programming block in the Philippines. Owned and operated by TV5, it occupied the 5:00 to 11:00pm timeslot of IBC; weekend coverage usually began at 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. It started on June 5, 2011, and it ended in May 2013 due to high airtime costs and low ratings.

Telecasts are produced by One Sports, the sports division of TV5 Network Inc., and aired through One Sports and PBA Rush, with simulcast and livestreaming on Cignal Play, Pilipinas Live and Smart LiveStream. Also, there is a separate coverage in English commentary on PBA Rush since July 15, 2016.

Carlos "Bobong" Velez was a Filipino TV producer who owned the Vintage Television, the network broadcast the PBA in the 1990s, and the Blow-by-Blow that discovered Manny Pacquiao.
