Jarajapu Viraj Ashwin is an Indian actor who has appeared in Telugu-language films. Debuting as a lead in Anaganaga O Premakatha (2018), [1] he gained recognition for his role in Baby (2023).

Personal life

Viraj Ashwin was born in a Telugu family in Hyderabad of Telangana, India to Venkateswararao Jarajapu and Venkateswari Jarajapu. His father was a retired scientist [2] in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Viraj is the grandson of the late film editor K. A. Marthand, nephew of film editor Marthand K. Venkatesh and film director Shankar K. Marthand, and great-grandnephew of B. A. Subba Rao. [3]

Career

Viraj Ashwin made his debut with the Pratap Tatamsetti-directed romantic drama Anaganaga O Premakatha (2018) [4] produced by K.L.N Raju. He played the lead role in the Telugu short film Manasanamaha (2020) which won many awards. [5] He acted in the 2021 film Thank You Brother , directed by Ramesh Raparthi and produced by Magunta Sarath Chandra Reddy, [6] and played the lead role in the 2022 film Valliddari Madhya. [7]

Viraj Ashwin's Baby was released on 14 July 2023 to positive reviews from critics and grossed ₹80 crore (US$10 million) worldwide. [8]

He made his acting debut with Mohana Krishna Indraganti's 2008 comedy film Ashta Chamma, an Indian adaptation of Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest. After Ashta Chamma's commercial success, Nani played the lead roles in three Telugu films in the next two years: Ride (2009), Snehituda (2009) and Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu (2010). In 2011, Nani collaborated with B. V. Nandini Reddy on the romantic comedy film Ala Modalaindi which was profitable. The same year, he made his Tamil cinema debut with Anjana Ali Khan's Veppam, a crime drama set in the backdrop of North Chennai. The following year, Nani collaborated with S. S.
