Virginia's 2nd House of Delegates district is one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 2 represents parts of Prince William and Stafford counties. The seat is currently held by Democrat Candi King.
The seat was previously held by Republican L. Mark Dudenhefer. [1] He announced in January 2017 he would not seek reelection. [2] Democrat Jennifer Carroll Foy won the June 2017 primary to become the Democratic candidate. [3] She initially faced Republican Laquan Austion; however he withdrew from the race in August 2017. [4] Republicans selected Michael Makee to run instead. [5] Carroll Foy won the November general election.
Carroll Foy was re-elected.
Carroll Foy resigned effective December 12, 2020, to focus on her campaign for the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election. [6] Democrat Candi King won an election to fill the seat on January 5, 2021. [7]

Its county seat is Stafford.
Jennifer Leigh McClellan is an American politician and attorney who has served as the U.S. representative for Virginia's 4th congressional district since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she represented the 9th district in the Virginia State Senate from 2017 to 2023 and the 71st district in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2009 to 2017. She ran in the Democratic primary for governor of Virginia in the 2021 election, losing to former governor Terry McAuliffe.

In December 2020, she resigned from the House of Delegates, in order to focus on her campaign for Governor of Virginia in 2021. She lost in the Democratic primary, placing second behind Terry McAuliffe. She is the 2023 Democratic nominee for State Senate in Virginia's 33rd Senate district.
Hala Sophia Ayala is an American politician who represented the 51st district in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2018 to 2022. She was the Democratic nominee in the 2021 Virginia lieutenant gubernatorial election, losing to Republican nominee Winsome Sears on November 2, 2021. She was also a candidate for Virginia State Senate in the 33rd District, losing the Democratic Primary to Jennifer Carroll Foy on June 20, 2023.
Daniel Isaac Helmer is an American politician. He is a member of the Democratic Party. In 2018, he lost the Democratic primary for Virginia's 10th congressional district. In 2019, he successfully ran for the Virginia House of Delegates in district 40, defeating Republican incumbent Tim Hugo. The majority of the district's population and landmass is located in Fairfax County with a small part in Prince William County.
