Virginia's 47th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 47 represents all of the City of Galax, Patrick County, Floyd County, Carroll County, and part of Henry County. The seat is currently held by Republican Wren Williams. [1]

Democrat Patrick A. Hope first took office in 2010, [1] after winning a three-way race in the 2009 general election; he earned 63.54% of the vote. [2] He has been reelected in 2011, [3] 2013, [4] 2015, [5] and 2017, [6] each time winning at least 76% of the vote. In 2019, he ran unopposed in the general election. In the 2021 Democratic primary, Hope faces a challenge from Matt Rogers, chief of staff for state senator Dave Marsden. [7]
L. Kaye Kory is an American politician. Since 2010 she has served in the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 38th district in Fairfax County. She served on the Fairfax County School Board 1999–2009. Kory is a member of the Democratic Party.

The 2023 Virginia Senate election was held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, concurrently with elections for the Virginia House of Delegates, to elect senators to all 40 seats in the Senate of Virginia for the 163rd and 164th Virginia Assembly. Nomination primaries held through the Department of Elections were held June 20, 2023. These were the first elections held following redistricting as a result of the 2020 census.
