Virginia's 55th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 55 represents parts of Caroline, Hanover, and Spotsylvania counties. The seat is currently held by Republican Hyland F. Fowler Jr. [1]

Robert Spurgeon Bloxom Jr. is an American businessman and politician from the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from the 100th district, succeeding Lynwood Lewis. Bloxom is a member of the Republican Party.

Rupert W. "Rupie" Phillips, Jr. is an American politician and a Republican member of the West Virginia Senate since 2020. Prior to his election to the Senate, he served in the West Virginia House of Delegates representing the 19th and 24th Districts from 2011 to 2019.

The Virginia House of Delegates election of 2017 was held on Tuesday, November 7. All 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates were contested. The Republican Party held a 66–34 majority in the House of Delegates before the election but lost 15 seats to the Democratic Party, resulting in the Republicans holding a 50–49 advantage. After a recount, the result of the election in the 94th district was called a tie. The candidate to hold the seat was determined by random drawing on January 4, 2018, which resulted in the Republicans holding a 51–49 majority.

The 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, concurrently with elections for the Virginia Senate, to elect members of the 163rd Virginia General Assembly. All 100 delegates are elected to two-year terms single-member districts. Nomination primaries held through the Department of Elections were held June 20, 2023.
