Virginia's 56th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 56 includes Louisa County, as well as portions of Goochland, Henrico, and Spotsylvania counties. It has been represented by Republican John McGuire III since 2018. [1]
The Virginia General Assembly is the legislative body of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the oldest continuous law-making body in the Western Hemisphere, the first elected legislative assembly in the New World, and was established on July 30, 1619. The General Assembly is a bicameral body consisting of a lower house, the Virginia House of Delegates, with 100 members, and an upper house, the Senate of Virginia, with 40 members. Senators serve terms of four years, and Delegates serve two-year terms. Combined, the General Assembly consists of 140 elected representatives from an equal number of constituent districts across the commonwealth. The House of Delegates is presided over by the Speaker of the House, while the Senate is presided over by the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. The House and Senate each elect a clerk and sergeant-at-arms. The Senate of Virginia's clerk is known as the "Clerk of the Senate".

Christopher Todd Gilbert is an American politician and attorney currently serving as Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates. He has been a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 2006, representing the 15th district in the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains, made up of Page and Shenandoah Counties, plus parts of Rockingham and Warren Counties.
Robert Dickson Orrock, Sr. is an American politician. Since 1990, he has been a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 54th district in the east-central part of the state, including parts of Caroline and Spotsylvania counties; the former county is included in the Greater Richmond Region and the latter county is included in the Washington metropolitan area. From 1990–1991, the District encompassed all of Spotsylvania County, part of Caroline County, and part of the Fredericksburg City. From 1992–2001, the District encompassed part of Spotsylvania County and all of Fredericksburg City. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Virginia's 1999 state elections were held on November 2, 1999. Voters elected all 100 members of the Virginia House of Delegates to two-year terms ending in 2002, and all 40 members of the Virginia Senate to four-year terms ending in 2004. There were also elections for local offices in most counties. The elections resulted in the loss of Democratic control of the House of Delegates for the first time in 116 years, and continued the two-year control of the Senate by Republicans.
Michael J. Webert is an American politician. A Republican, he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2011. He currently represents the 18th district, made up of Rappahannock County and parts of Culpeper, Fauquier and Warren counties, in the north central part of the state.

Virginia's 20th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 20 consists of parts of Augusta County and Nelson County; Highland County; and the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro. It has been represented by Republican Dickie Bell since 2010.

District 57, consisting of parts of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, has been represented by Sally Hudson since 2020, and previously by David Toscano from 2006 to 2020, following the 2005 election in which he defeated Thomas W. McCrystal after the retirement of Mitchell Van Yahres.
Virginia's 42nd House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. Under a redistricting plan effective for the 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election, the district number was reassigned from northern Virginia's Fairfax County to a new southwestern Virginia district formed from parts of the previous districts 12, 7 and 8, including the independent city of Radford, Giles County, and parts of Montgomery and Pulaski counties. The old 12th District included Radford, Giles and different parts of Pulaski and Montgomery counties. Significantly, the new 42nd district no longer includes the Montgomery County town of Blacksburg, which had been home to previous Democrat delegates from the 12th, Joan Munford, Jim Shuler and Chris Hurst.
Virginia's 64th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 64, located in Isle of Wight County, Prince George County, Suffolk, Surry County, was represented by Republican Rick Morris from 2012 to 2018. Due to scandal, Morris did not seek re-election in Virginia's November 2017 elections. Based on the results of the election, the seat has been held by Republican Emily Brewer since January 2018. Emily Brewer defeated Democrat Michele Joyce in district 64 on November 5, 2019 and won reelection on November 2, 2021.
Virginia's 88th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 88 covers part of Fauquier County, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, and part of the city of Fredericksburg, Virginia. This district is currently represented by Republican Phillip Scott.
Virginia's 93rd House of Delegates district elects one of the 100 members of the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. The district is made up of parts of Newport News, Williamsburg, James City County, and York County.

Virginia's 45th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 45 includes part of the city of Alexandria as well as parts of Arlington and Fairfax counties. The seat has been represented by Democrat Elizabeth Bennett-Parker since 2022.
Virginia's 66th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 66 represents the city of Colonial Heights as well as part of Chesterfield County. The seat has been held by Republican Mike Cherry since 2022.
The 2022 West Virginia House of Delegates election was held on November 8, 2022, electing all 100 members of the chamber. This coincided with the election of 17 of West Virginia's 34 state senators, and the election of West Virginia's two U.S. representatives. Primary elections were held on May 10, 2022. Due to redistricting, this was the first House of Delegates election in which all members were elected from single member districts, with West Virginia following a trend of states phasing out multi-member districts in recent decades.
The 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, concurrently with elections for the Virginia Senate, to elect members of the 163rd Virginia General Assembly. All 100 delegates are elected to two-year terms single-member districts. Nomination primaries held through the Department of Elections were held June 20, 2023.
